I didn't even know about this film 'til just now. Sounds absolutely fantastic, can't wait for it to get picked up and get a decent release. Great review.

Despite the positive review I am still skeptical. I've been burnt too many times by horror-comedies. *weeps into hands*

Tudyk pretty much assured me that I was going but a positive review and I'm pretty sure I can talk the wife in to coming along.

My question is, as a film set in rural America does it pander to conservative Americans?

I had a sorta similar idea about a bunch of inbred hillbiliies going to NYC and being stalked and hunted by murderous, cannibal rich people in lobster bibs and monocles. Call it DINER'S CLUB.

Disclaimer: I saw a work print.

A great concept with two fantastic lead actors. The rest of the movie was pretty uneven. It's definitely worth seeing but I found it to be an inspired idea with a lot of wasted potential and some shoddy production value.

I agree with Devin on the lead villain for the second half of the movie but for the first half I actually thought he was pretty great. Around the midpoint when he is required to go EVIL he starts sucking hard.

Temper your expectations, see it, and enjoy it.

Saw this a couple weeks ago. It's a lot of fun with a good crowd. With some distance, I have to admit that I kinda forgot that I saw it.

I loved how absolutely unsympathetic the college kids were (other than Katrina Bowden). It made every one of their deaths so satisfying. The evil dude was trying to go for some manic Tom Cruise energy with his performance, but I felt it came off pretty lame the whole time. I did laugh at the lameness, but never did I think it was any good.

Come for the dead college kids. Stay for Tudyk and Tyler Labine who are without a doubt the heart of the film. There is a bit of a Shaun & Ed aspect to their friendship considering the fact that I'm sure Shaun of the Dead was a powerful influence on the filmmakers, but it feels like its own sweet thing.

It was very odd to see Katrina Bowden playing a sympathetic character for once. I've only ever seen her as her non-character in 30 Rock and Sex Drive.

Love this movie. Saw the full version when we were talking to (begging) Mike to do the music for my pilot. It's whole bunch of fun.

It cleaned up at the AMPIA awards a few weeks ago. It needs to be picked up. It'll get an audience on DVD.

Saw it at the Cinefamily showing.

The relationship between the two leads was perfect. Hands down Labine & Tudyk make the best duo since Pegg & Frost. I just wish they had a better enemy to go up against. The villain brought too much cheese for me, it changed the movie from wild satire to parody. I think Eli Craig should have gone all the way with the idea that Tucker and Dale were up against the Idea of Evil instead of the evil being a specific person. This film didn't need a villain, it already had one in the concept of misunderstanding/miscommunication is the cause of evil in the world. Shaun of the Dead didn't have a specific villain, just a general threat. In that film it was zombies, in this films it should have just been misconception after misconception to the climax.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the film. I just didn't love it.

It was amusing to see Chad's collar chart his decent into insanity.  He went from quarter pop to full on popped collar when he became the (half)hillbilly psycho killer he was bred to be.

Fun movie.

I saw it back in the Fall and while I liked it, especially Tudyk and Labine, it suffers from the best stuff being in Act I.  The first death is pretty much perfection in setup and execution.  Everything else is down from there, which is o.k. if the rest of the movie didn't have to deal with a bad villain. Still, I'm glad I watched it and I think even though the script wasn't all there, there's a lot of promise in the directing.

Just caught this at the local indie theater, and I have to say, pretty damn impressed. Lighter than I expected, but the back and forth between Tudyk and Labine is just too...pleasant I guess to make me regret that this more a homage/satire than a straight up deconstruction of all those cheesy horror films. No Shaun of the Dead, but damn funny nonetheless (and your enjoyment will definitely grow exponentially based on your horror experience).

Also, definitely in the minority on this one, but I give props to Chad as the villain. Personally I thought it was just the right amount of overwrought to the point where the few breaks (the asthma inhale, drinking the tea) killed. Fit perfectly with the idea of him seeing himself as the star of his own little horror movie. If anything I think the writing let him down, as he just wasn't given a ton of memorable stuff to say.

I just saw it last night. I enjoyed it, but its not something I have to see again. I knew the wood chipper death was coming, but I still laughed when it happened.

"Oh he's gonna walk it off."
