Storage size aside, it was never feasible to make this a DLC update. Changing around the balancing issues and revising the netcode is a bigger pain in the ass as an update instead of making it a separate retail release. Then Capcom would have to host matches for for two different types of the same game with different tier lists and so on.

Oh, and get the 360 version if you plan on picking up fightpads/sticks. It has better graphics and less connection issues. If not, get the PS3 version for the non-shit d-pads.

This is part of the reason I'm getting it on the ps3. The other is I'm tired of paying for an online service that is completely let down by lemon hardware. The ps3's online capabilities may not match XBL (its getting closer and closer with every firmware update & there are many more ps3 owners online now), but I'm not paying for it and I don't have to worry about losing a month of gaming due to the ps3 being in repairs. This is all old news, I know but it still counts.

How much better could the game's graphics be on the 360?

I haven't personally played any street fighter games with the 360 controller, but from what I've read other players say if you absolutely have to use the controller, the analog stick works better than the d-pad for characters with shotokon style moves (QCF'S, dragon punches, etc) and the d-pad is fine for characters with charge moves. Supposedly it's not that bad switching back and forth between the two, and the analog stick actually works pretty well (there's a little lee-way with inputting the moves on the analog stick, doesn't have to be digital-perfect movements).

Why can't microsoft make a decent d-pad?

I keep reading that diagonals on the madcatz sf4 d-pad are bad too. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
The D-Pad is on a sort of retrofitted analog stick, so it's a little more wobbly on diagonals than normal, but it doesn't hurt gameplay at all.

It's very reminiscent of the Saturn d-pad. Hadokens are easier to pull off, but I do have a tougher time with charge characters. Also, the PS3's wireless' track record is spotty. Eventually it just loses the connection. I really wish they just switched to wired when they released the Round 2 controllers. It's horribly depressing that my Gief pad has a shelf life.

I gave in and picked this up yesterday for the PS3 (only have a PS3, fwiw). Haven't played it, but I have a good feeling once I put this sucker in I'll be on my ass for the rest of the day...

My PSN handle is nocarsgo19 if anyone wants to play online. I just started going online, like, a couple days ago. Played the original SF IV against a few strangers.

Sold my copy of SF 4 for $20 and picked up Super SF4 for $37 with a $10 credit for future use. I will probably break down and buy the Real Arcade EX-SE because if I can't play somewhat competitively online, its not worth it to me.

Got around playing online last nite; All i can say its that some fellows truly hate Dan now...especially a Dudley player who challenged me 5 times in a row to no avail.
Got a major beatdown from a Ibuki player, though.
I gotta say, online play feels miles better and more fun than SFIV, for some reason.
Im actually THIS close to getting an arcade stick controller because of the fun this game is giving me.

Just got this for my PS3 cuz my friend kept pestering me to play online with him and he doesn't have a 360.

The first thing I notice is just how jaggy it is compared to the Xbox version.

Still perfectly playable though. In fact it seemed I had an easier time pulling off several moves and combos than on the 360. My Guy sucks with the 360 gamepad but is pretty good with a Dualshock 3, heh.

My friend should be lending me his customized PS3 fightstick soon so I'll have even better control than on Xbox because I refuse to buy such an expensive controller for one damn game.

I just ordered the bottom one. Other sticks are for size comparison.

It's funny how they didn't even bother animating the opening cinematics for the new characters. Still images with voiceover and music. I thought they were pretty cheaply done anyway, so no complaints there.

I've tried playing online. I suck. In addition to not being that good to begin with, the lag I experience makes me completely incompetent.

A few of the new revenge ultras are so fantastic. But most of them make me go, "That's it?" High highs and low lows...
Ultras suck. They muck up the flow of a fight - they're the fighting game equivalent of Final Fantasy's summons. Also: not a lot of creativity involved. Compare to some of the super arts in Third Strike (Q's, Yun's, Ibuki's, even Alex's headbutt). Also, you could choose from three. None of em last longer than 2 seconds, Im pretty sure.

I sincerely hope MvC3's fighting engine isn't as muddled. If I just want to look at crazy looking nonsense, Tekken 6 delivers that in superior fashion. Street Fighter is all about mechanics, and there's too much fat in SF4's game to make it worth the while.

I picked this up earlier in the week and I'm enjoying it, but I gotta admit I don't like the way the rank you based on your player points. I have about 400, but no more than 200 battle points with any one character and it seems like everytime I fight someone they have 1,000-2,000 battle points with the character.

Other than that I am enjoying it. Glad that they finally gave Guile an Ultra I can pull off smoothly in combat too.
What do you think of the top Fightstick? I'm planning on ordering it on payday from Capcom directly.
Goddamn, it's physically impossible to combo into Guile's ultra with the PS3 controller.

Is the fightpad worth it?
