From the BBC; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8509787.stm

It's an interesting case, on the one hand the prisoner wanted it known he was tourturd by the CIA and MI5 knew this and did nothing. On the other hand there is a vaild point to be made about how this kind of ruling damages intelegence sharing.

Discuss.

The special US/UK relationship is a strategic linchpin for both our countries, and one from which we've both benefitted mightily. Anything that could throw up a wall in the uniquely high level of cooperation and information sharing between the two countries can't be good.

In other words, I *like* the fact that, when I'm working with a Brit, I don't have to ask myself what he can or cannot know. He can know everything I can know, and that makes things much easier for us both.

This the same line of thought as "well, dictatorships are horrible, but it sure would be nice to have Iraq and Iran onside during the Cold War".

Why do yo think governments, specially shadow governments, like the CIA have morality or even should? Morality kind of fly in the face of whole espionage thing. After all the heinous things that groups like the CIA have done over the years, and you worry about a little torture? I am anti government so I don't like espionage organizations and shadow governments, but if you are surprise they do shit a lot worse then torture people then you are just really ignorant.
