New drinking game. Every time FSU gives up a first down on third and long take a shot. You'll be dead by the frist half of a game.

Oh well, that was bonus time anyway. No one expected the Noles to make that game anyway. At least I get to see them live in the Chic-Fil-A Bowl, ha.

It's because Chizik is a very average coach who, without Malzahn or Newton, would be sitting at .500. It's made worse by the cow college having some of the worst fans in college football.

I'm not a huge fan of Malzahn either. Granted, Houston Nutt was faaaar from perfect, and I'm not sorry he is gone, but that whole thing with Malzahn coming part and parcel with Mustain, Williams and co. out of Springdale, and the ensuing drama that followed, sorta made me root against all of those guys.

Around the time the bowls gave up on being coy about the corporate sponsorships and just named themselves after the companies. Sanctity of the bowls my ass.

Working on it, but not sure yet. I'll ping ya if its definite. Spoke with some fellow Booster friends this morning about trying to get some tix when the school puts them out for sale. The school seats will probably suck but I don't feel like paying big money for this one. Tzu, agreed on the crappy name change. I tried to call it the Peach Bowl even post Chik-Fil-A but around these parts Chik-Fil-A is like Coke and has become so all-encompassing everyone seems to have adopted the new name.

Gator Bowl is reported to be bringing Michigan and Mississippi State in. Meh.

Yeah, 11-1 Boise State plays on Dec. 22, while seven teams with 7-5 records and two teams with 6-6 records are playing on New Year's Day or later.

Agreed on both points. Rich Rod is history after the game, and now Boise State has a chance to win to perpetuate their supposed superiority. I so wanted to Boise State to be trounced by a team to put the kibosh on their claims for the championship.

But the Buckeyes get the Sugar Bowl, which is fine with me. It's been a relatively lackluster year for OSU, but we're still in the mix.

ESPN Bowl Selection show said if Mississippi State had Cam Newton they could be playing for a national championship. For some reason that depresses me.

Jacksonville is going to be Maroon and the sound of cowbells will be ringing loud there. Already a decent size Mississippi State Alumni base there.

Yeah, complete BS for sure. They should be playing on/after New Years Day. One really tough close loss does not (or should not) throw a team like that into the Obscurity Bowl. lol

I'm just sick of bowl games after Jan. 1. The only game that should happen after New Year's Day is the championship game. I mean, what's so special about the Kraft Fight Hunger bowl that it has to take place in prime time on a Sunday night?

I just miss the old New Year's Days when you'd have all these meaningful games going on, and a night game that looked meaningless at noon could suddenly become important with an upset in the afternoon games. It didn't have the #1 vs. #2 certainty of the current system, but it didn't turn all the New Year's games into afterthoughts either.

Maryland at 8-4 goes to the Military Bowl (WTF?), which is essentially last on the ACC selection board, while Ga Tech and Clemson (both 6-6) are chosen to bowls before them. Whatever.

Also loved this Twitter quote from a another Mid-American Conference coach: "Temple finishes season 8-4, just like UConn, and beat UConn 30-16 this season. UConn is going to a BCS bowl. Temple is going nowhere."

The 'stache is out at Pitt. Apparently UM offered him a 10-year contract back when he was HC for the Dolphins, and he said "no". Don't know if he or they would reconsider now.

I'll believe it when I don't see him on the sidelines in 2011. Also, if he pulls again what he pulled last year, I don't think the UF fans will stand for it. I wouldn't.

The problem with UM is, they can't afford any big-name coaches. This couldn't have been timed any better for FSU, with all of their coaches out this week on the recruiting trail. And speaking of recruiting, UM's 2011 class can now be counted on one hand. Yikes. Already lots of posts from some angry UF recruits, and some saying they'll wait and see who the new HC is. Also scuttlebutt suggesting that any recruits from the last class should be given the option to transfer if they like, since Meyer said he wasn't coming back for just 1 more year.

Bell's not a splashy hire, sure. I fully expect the usual suspects to come up - Mullen, Strong, Shanahan, Stoops - but Meyer created a disconnect among the UF boosters and those who remember the good old days and how good it felt when Spurrier turned an also-ran program into one of the nation's elite, because he -was- a Gator. Meyer was, and always will be, considered an outsider.

FSU has the most tenured coach in the state and whipped both rivals. Word on the street is that FSU will have a top #5 recruiting class while UF and UM will bleed recruits for at least a year, maybe more.
