Thought some people here might be watching this after Devin's A Prophet review.
An interesting character study of a conflicted man, who wants to escape to a better, more rewarding life who is both being held back by his past and his fears. I like how Audiard is not afraid to have his lead make some real asshole moves, and also coming up with an ending that, to be honest, surprised me in a good way, leaving questions about where this guy is going but also leaving room for hope. Duris plays Tom's increasing love of the piano and by extension himself really well, and I found his performance really charismatic. It's no masterpiece, but it's a really good movie.
Also, Melanie Laurent! (admittedly for all of about two minutes). Thoughts?
