Oh dear. What ever will Fox do?

I love how it takes a joke that MIGHT be aimed at her for her to decide that goshdarn it, there needs to be some deceny on these here airwaves.

Al Gore has enviromental awareness. Palin has retard awareness.

Freedom of speech is only good until someone insults you. Then enough is enough!

"From its inception, Family Guy has used biting satire as the foundation of its humour," Seth McFarlane said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
I could be wrong, but doesn't "biting" imply, y'know, some amount of cleverness?
He said he used it as a foundation. Didn't say it carried to their final product.

I saw the episode, and while Stewie's song certainly rode the rails of blatant meanness, the rest of the episode was pretty spot on, especially with Chris' realization that just because the girl had Downs didn't mean she couldn't be high maintenance like any other girl.
She's pretty much in no position to make any calls for 'restraint' or 'decency'. Dipshit, fuck thyself.

Plus the fact that Chris doesn't like her out of pity; her having Downs syndrome is totally inconsequential to how he feels about her.

Palin will spend the next ten years on the hunt for things to rile people up with.

I hope this leads to Family Guy doing a hardcore Fuck Palin episode. But I suspect, as with South Park, they'll just slink away like cowards.

This is an interesting game of chicken for both Fox News and Fox TV. Who is going to flinch first? I agree completely with McFarlane regardless of what I think of his show, and I think he'll eventually "win" (whatever that means), but if there's one thing that Palin and FNC have proven it's that they don't drop grudges.
I guess I don't get the joke.
Here's the thing, it's actually win/win for Fox. Controversy gets attention and makes Family Guy look edgier and gets Palin more attention for her time on Fox News. It would actually be kind of amazing if Fox managed to figure out how to make money off both sides of their artificial controversies.
Frankly, if the Palin family reacts this poorly to a really bad cartoon, stay the fuck away from national politics again. Get a harder skin you useless twats.

Seriously? When was this? Man, fuck Parker and Stone and their "rebel" attitudes.
The more Palin acknowledges this stuff, the more neocons have to pretend that language and intent have consequences. Neocons HATE having to be (what they think is) PC, and they'll hate having to play along with the retard meme.

I love it.

Yeah, I'd like to hear more about this too. I started to grow really fed up with Parker and Stone when I went to comic-con before "Team America" came out and the two of them spent the entire Q&A session whining about how haaaaaard it was to make a movie with puppets. Since then they've increasingly seemed like bratty, self-centered, nihilistic tools as opposed to the brave truth-tellers they always get painted as.

I think he meant Family Guy will slink away like cowards from Palin like Family Guy slinked away from South Park when Parker & Stone poked fun at FG.
They've made a ton of jokes about people in wheelchairs. Should I cash in on this too?

I'm waiting for Parker and Stone to come out of the closet and get married in MA. There is no way those too can write as many "Celebrity X is a Fag!" jokes and not be totally gay themselves.

That's a bingo. I was really hoping Family Guy would stand up for itself and do some savage jokes at South Park's expense. They're pretty good sized targets, and no one has ever fucked with them even a little. Family Guy was in a unique position to do so and they didn't even touch it.

I don't really like Family Guy but I REALLY, REALLY don't like Sarah Palin so I'm going to side with Family Guy on this one.

She was on O'Reilly and in the same interview when she denounced McFarlane she told O'Reilly that Rush Limbaugh was in the clear for using the term "retard" because it was satire.

But...Family Guy...satire...comedic device...I...but...

My head nearly exploded.

That poor dolt can't catch a break. So nice.

Actress who voiced the character with Down's Syndrome - also has Down's Syndrome. Also says Sarah Palin should get a sense of humour.

edit: Whoops. Even after looking to make sure the link I posted wasn't already posted, I somehow managed to completely miss the post just two above my one.

That's just awesome.

I wish I knew where that 'burnsauce' .gif was, because it's very appropriate in this situation.

So Seth went on Bill Maher to discuss the issue. In a very cool move, he waited till REAL TIME before doing any press, so Bill got to break his side of the story

Just to get it out of the way: When it comes to Palin V Griffin, I'm on the side of the person who wasn't trying to stir up racial hatred during the 2008 campaign

Anyway, I wanted to say this:

I don't particularly enjoy McFarlane's shows. I was amused by FG back in the day, but can't really tolerate it now. Yet.. I've seen Seth on BM twice now. Each time, he's been amazingly charming, funny, astute and his politics are basically the same as mine

He's a really smart and genuinely clever guy, which is surprising. He is maybe one of my favorite BM guests

This has happened to me before on Maher. Ashton Kutcher comes on and I assume he's going to be a total moran (intentional, btw, I'm referencing that photo), but he turns out to be very well read and also capable of making cogent argumentsSo Seth went on Bill Maher to discuss the issue

PS Maher made a joke about Palin's retarded baby (her words, not mine!*), and it was so clearly baiting her to respond so he could get publicity. She won't just because she knows Maher would make her look like a fool. He just doesn't give a shit if he loses his show, where as Letterman had to play nice and pretend to be sorry

*according the father of her grandson

Keep it up, Bill!
