The story of a Jewish strongman and his relationship with a Nazi with mind control powers (played by Tim Roth) written and directed by Werner Herzog. How have I not heard of this movie until now?

Also the fact that its based on two real people (who never met each other, but damn they should've) makes it all the more awesome.

It's actually not as great as it sounds. Roth is amazing as the Magician of the piece and there's some interesting stuff with the Nazi making over the strongman to make him look Aryan is great.

It sounds much more epic than it actually is, doesn't it? I keep imagining someone turning this plot into an over the top comic book.

The actual story it's based on is amazing, it's just that the movie feels more like artifice than anything else which is really unusual for Herzog. It feels more like a narrative documentary than anything, or at least it feels like it wants to be a documentary but it doesn't really work.

Probably my least favorite Herzog. The scene with the giant jellyfish tanks is pretty cool though, and as mentioned, Roth is great.
