if youre going to do some blatant plagiarism, dont choose a series with 50 million volumes sold.

More here....

Never read the comic itself, but holy hell, this is blatant as it gets...im amazed they even dared to do this.
And seriously, Hellsing, Bleach and One Piece? You couldnt pick LESS known series to steal from?

That's for real?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that at the very least the .gif El Cap posted is blatant theft. Coincidences happen. This isn't one of them.

People are saying that Facebook poster is fake.
However....

If you are feeling any sympathy for Nick Simmons at all, I invite you to head here for a massive collection of Bleach panels and Incarnate panels side-by-side; I assure the above was not an isolated incident. And for bonus fun, please head over to the "Calling for legal action against Nick Simmons for plagiarism of other works" fan page or group or whatever it's called over at Facebook, where Nick Simmons himself has joined in! My favorite of his comments, with extra-special bits bolded for your entertainment:

• "Listen everyone... you're all digging your own graves posting on this forum. Facebook is looking into suspending this page and issuing any warnings for slander against me. I can't make this any clearer... I DID NOT STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK!! I may have appropriated some styles, but I did not steal. My work is full... of homages to everyone in my medium - not theft! You guys are just a bunch of mean spirited mouth-breathers - except all my fans on here who have rightfully supported me. I will ask Facebook not to press any charges against you if you give me a sincere apology here in this thread. Please do so. Facebook keeps all your IP addresses and info... so they will suspend your account if I do not receive proper apologies."

• "Okay.. now looking at some of these photo comparisons, I can see why a few people are up-in-arms. I can tell you right now these are all purely coincidences. I never even heard of Bleach! Who would name a comic after laundry detergent? When I channel my energy when drawing my book sometimes I can pull stuff in that I never seen before. It's like i'm possessed when I start thinking and drawing. Perhaps I just got on the same wave length that all artists share. My dad just called and said I have a real case against all this slander. If Facebook doesn't give into my demands soon there's going to be hell to pay. Now, I have to damage control on another site - more people being mislead. Now I have to deal with this and my book's deadline. I'm not sure how I can think and draw under all this pressure."

• "I have no idea how people are saying my comic looks like that bleach magma. My book is in color and the other is not. My book reads left to right... the other reads right to left. Besides some vague similarities, they're nothing alike. I put my heart and soul into my book - great story and awesome characters... yet people are trying to pull me down. And NO... I didn't trace or copy other peoples work. Most of these photos are starting to look like photoshop manipulations to make me look bad. You can't trust everything you see on the Internet."

I'm not sure if the Facebook poster is fake or not, they seem to write the same way.

According to this page, he ripped off deviantArt fan work too.

Fake or real, these posts are all sorts of awesome.

I love the denial by denegration:

" I never even heard of Bleach! Who would name a comic after laundry detergent?"

"You guys are just a bunch of mean spirited mouth-breathers"

And the capper: "I have no idea how people are saying my comic looks like that bleach magma..."

His weak retorts are exactly and hilariously like Vanilla Ice's from the "Under Pressure" / "Ice Ice Baby" sampling controversy.

That facebook post HAS to be fake. He can't honestly claim he's never read manga. I mean, look at the damn artwork.

This would never happen to Nic Cage's kid...

Nic Cages son is double crossing sonvabitch.

At first, I thought this whole thing might be blown out of proportion. But man it just looks like he traced his drawings from Bleach and other sources. I mean he may have been able to get away with it if he just used the poses and layouts, and also minus the identicle character designs, but the tracing is so blatant. Its outrageous he thought he'd get away with it.

Gotta love Bleach Author's tweets on the subject:

So, uh, from yesterday night until this morning, there've been an amazing number of messages from overseas fans along the lines of "There's a manga imitating BLEACH in America!" Well, I had a look at the site and I don't understand English that well, but I think what's written there is something like "It's a manga drawn by Gene Simmons' son, Nick Simmons."

-and-

The fact that Gene Simmon's son is a manga-ka disturbs me more than whether he's really copying or not.

(There have been a lot of mistranslations due to Kubo's use of the word mitai, which means 'something like', but which is a homonym for the differently written word meaning 'want to see'. If he's interested in reading Incarnate, he hasn't said so. Also, a lot of people have translated ki ni naru ('disturbed/worried') as 'interested' (ki ni iru). Figured I'd try and help sort that out.)

Guess he aint a KISS fan.

"My book is in color and the other is not. My book reads left to right... the other reads right to left. Besides some vague similarities, they're nothing alike."

Wow. I'm convinced. Innocent!

The quantity of obvious examples on those sites, it's astounding. How many issues of Simmon's comic are there? If these are all from a single issue, man the guy is shameless.

I think 4 issues, if I'm not mistaken. And you're right, there are so many examples of blatant tracing, its something I'd expect from a 3rd grader. Unbelievable.

The artwork in his comic is lifeless and static feeling. The pencils must have literally looked like tracings because any good thats in it is coming from the ink and colours, which he did not do. I cant belive its copied and yet hes managed to remove any sense of beauty or action from it. Astonishing. Does anyone know if the stories are the same too?
Well on the plus side about this, the more he denies that he ripped it off completely, the further he's digging his own grave with it when it all comes into the light.

Not that there isn't a huge spotlight on it already.

He's not the crafty mastermind Greg Land is.

"I've never even heard of these so-called 'cromic blooks', or whatever CRAAAAAZY thing they're called!! You can see I must be innocent!"
