Inexplicable Vehicle Resoration in Films

I've been thinking on a trend in films where the main character(s) restores a classic vehicle (usually with a nice montage) with limited tools, time, training, and most importantly logic. I was thinking of this when I watched the Van Damme movie Nowhere to Run, in this film he restores a classic 1969 Triumph T120 Bonneville motorcycle in a barn so he can have a getaway vehicle. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but it's just hilarious to me. Another example is the French exchange student helping John Cusack restore a 1967 Camero in Better Off Dead (I just found a website for that car http://www.betteroffdeadcamaro.com/, damn). Again, it makes no real sense, but despite a metric handcap the girl gets the car in top running order. I'm interested what scenes in movies you can think of that follow this strange formula. Please avoid supernatural causes i.e. Christine, and keep it to the more illogical variety.

The total restoration of The General Lee in a couple of hours in The Dukes of Hazzard trumps any I have ever seen.

The Fast and Furious movies come to mind. Naws, I need Naaaws.

Fast and Furious 1: We'll overnight parts from Japan.
Fast and Furious 3: We'll put this S-2000 motor into this classic mustang in a few days and it'll work like butta.

Doesn't this thread begin and end with Greased Lightning?

I hope not, I'm looking for a big pile of restoration montages here. Not a one trumps all scene, though I'll Greased Lightning a day in court now.

Why is this in Chewers Catch All?

Yeah this is defiantly not in the right place. But it does say that there does need to be great movie car thread started in Movie Miscellany.

My fault for putting it in the wrong section, my apologies.

Aside from Better off Dead, Savage Steve Holland
had another montage of teens getting a boat ready in One Crazy Summer (also starring John Cusack!)

Let's also not forget one of my favorite 80's movies Summer Rental where an Air Traffic controller (John Candy) takes his family on vacation only to get into a bitter rivalry with his summer landlord and have it resolved with a race at the annual summer regatta. His way of qualifying? Restoring an old boat that was turned into a restaurant and owned by the legendary Rip Torn! You gotta love how a family and kitchen crew just managed to turn that old rust bucket into a regatta sailing machine in what could only be 24 hours.

Hmmm... I got one more for you that I'm not 100% sure has a montage as I haven't seen it in over 15 years and I had to imdb it just to find the title. The Last Chase with Lee Majors. He's a race car driver that had to dismantle his car and retire only to come out for one last race.. I seem to remember it being in pieces and him putting it together but I could be wrong. I'm thinking of buying this on EBay to catch up on it since it isn't on DVD yet (or ever.. probably)

I forget how much time is supposed to have passed but they restore that classic car pretty damn quick at the end of Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang gets a makeover real quick to.
