Straight to Hell

It's not as bad as you've heard, but it's also not a great midnight movie - instead, it's a mediocre action-comedy, that happens to involve some familiar faces, like director Alex Cox, and star Joe Strummer, alongside Jim Jarmusch in a cameo appearance. I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone, unless you're especially curious about Cox's filmography; and, well, Alex Cox is possibly one of the most disappointing filmmakers of recent times - even in Straight to Hell, he displays ambition and some really interesting, or at least fun ideas, which are poorly realized. The movie isn't really funny, and the action is haphazardly directed; but the film is also the work of an original, albeit one who has difficulty trying to figure out what kind of movie he's trying to make.

I'm been meaning to see this since the Pogues are in it, but man, I've not heard very good things.

It's mediocrity encapsulated.

Terrible movie, especially considering all the talent involved. Even for a midnight movie this is awful and not a lot of fun in the slightest.

Only for those who long for the wit and sublety of pre-Hole Courtney Love.
