I'd wager her face settled in, maybe she bathed. Possibly the Stepford version of her. She does look a bit animatronic.

The second that dress comes off you're in for a fucking surprise.

If the dress comes off, then yes, in more ways than one.

I was in 10th grade when grunge broke. I nevertheless stuck to my guns and kept listening to Kiss, DLR era Van Halen, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, and Queen. I even still openly liked Poison. I got a ton of shit for it. What I heard most was that I didn't listen to real music.

The fact that untalented, hypocritical junkie, who only got a record deal because she was married to Cobain had musical creditability proves that the early 90's music was no where near as great as people think it was.

So angry.

The fact that Courtney Love has a drug problem in no way makes the music of Kiss or Poison or Motley Crue any better.

I think someone just has some obvious baggage they've been holding onto for waaaaay too long Schwartz...

Shhhhh, there, there. Let it go. It's all going to be okay.

Also, "Live Through This" and, to a lesser extent, "Celebrity Skin" are pretty good albums.
I brought up the drugs, because Kurt and Courtney said the People Magazine story about them doing herion was a lie. They weren't "rock stars" so they were above the cliches like being a drug addict. Even though they were lying. No one ever called them on it.

Grunge wasn't the music for outcasts. It was for whining brats from the suburbs. Which is what Cobain was, so that makes sense. It was not unusual to see dudes in Pearl Jam shirts making fun of people just for being not like them. So much for getting the message of Jeremy.

When former Hole drummer Samathy Malonely was Crue's drummer for their summer 2000 tour, she was playing to twice as many people as she had last time she toured with Hole.

Kiss, Poison, and Motley Crue didn't get a record deal by taking the Yoko Ono route to fame. At least Yoko was nailing the dude who wrote Imagine, not somebody who steals riffs from Boston.
Shhh, honey, it's going to be okay. Those nasty kids from the suburbs can't hurt you any more.

Yeah seriously dude, it was almost twenty years ago. Time to let go...

There are still some soldiers left from the fairly non-existent Grunge/Alt Rock vs. Hair Metal war?

It's like unearthing a survivalist from a fallout shelter who thinks the Cold War's still going on.

So let me see if I got this right. On a web site where people are still pissed at Geogre Lucus for the prequels, me liking Hair Metal is wierd?

Last summer at The Rock on the Range festival in Columbus Ohio, Motley Crue was the headliner Saturday night. Alice In Chains went in the early afternoon. I'm not still fighting a war, because I was on the winning side.

I credit my anger to have a Nikki Sixx circa 1984 like head of hair.

Chaz...it's not your fault.

I once went to a Sci-Fi film marathon that showed THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD in the afternoon, and the headlining film was THEY LIVE. Suck it 1950's Science Fiction! I think I won that war.

This is fascinating to watch. Somebody has an extremely evident axe to grind with how their formative years went in the 90s.

At least it wasn't Goeorge Lucus who raped his childhood.

No apparently it was Mudhoney.

Chaz I know life sometimes can get tough, and I know life sometimes can be a drag, but Chaz, we have been given a gift, we have been given a road
And that road's name is... Rock and Roll!"
Chaz, just play this video on a loop and we can get you through this buddy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu2DA...eature=related

Also, regardless of what happens in Courtney Love's life, Kiss and Poison will always remain talentless, shit bands.

I'm not gonna lie, that is one of my favorite Kiss songs.

Dude, already have that video on DVD, but thanks for thinking of me. Why do you think Kiss and Poison are untalented? I say the same thing about Nirvana, but I back that statement up. Kurt was a terrible singer, a sloppy guitarist, a weak song writer*, the big message of his music was life sucks then you die, and it sucks to be young rich and famous. His music was supposed to be about all his inner pain. People who have real pain, don't make things up like being homeless and living under a bridge. Which Kurt did.

*The riff from Smells like Teen Spirit was lifted from Boston's More Than A Feeling. A very unpunk band to nick. I don't get the lyrical brilliance of saying hello 9 times in a row: twice.

Just Cinderella

Hey did I ever tell you guys how personally offended I am by early 80's post-punk new wave synthpop???

Those fuckers.

I wouldn't say I have an axe to grind. I did go to a high school full of assholes. Anybody who had the slightest bit of originally was looked down on. As soon as I graduated I been a lot happier.

Chaz, you, and reading of your youth gone wild, has truly kickstarted my heart. And while nothing will ever change the fact that every rose has its thorn, I now realize that your posts are more than words. I truly feel the winds of change. From this day forth, I will no longer live as though I was once bitten, twice shy. Ah, look at me, here I go again. Simply know that, like my girlfriend, Beth, you are and will always remain a sweet child o' mine.

Excuse me guys, could we just exclude Motley Crue from this? Lemmy said that they're cool and using them in mockery makes me a little uncomfortable. Lemmy's word is law after all. Everyone else is fair game.

Thank you.

any reason I can post this

Lemmy Vs God

oh and both grunge and hair metal were good for the time they occupied, but though I won't really change the radio dial if either comes on, its definitely a long ways away from my ipod

Really letting your youth go wild, M? We could go round and round on this, but we know there's no one like you. But all this nostalgia for hair metal is bringin' on the heartbreak, because I'm wishing I was a modern day cowboy. I'm just going to turn up the radio and remind myself I'm too young to fall in love.

Actually it was "Louie Louie". "More Than A Feeling" isn't the same chord progression. But there are a bunch of similar-sounding songs, because chords and chord progression, on their own, have fuck-all to do with musical plagiarism or originality.

EDIT: Wait it's not either of them! I'm sorry. MTAF nicked "Louie Louie"'s progression. Teen Spirit is different. So nyaahh!
So because Motley Crue headlined a festival and a revamped Alice In Chains (trying to make a go of it with a new singer) had an afternoon timeslot at a second rate festival in fucking Ohio, it is clear that 80's hair metal was superior to early 90's Alternative/grunge/college/modern rock whatever you want to call it?

Nirvana Rape Me'd his childhood.
Also, Cobain tweaking but not directly lifting the chords to "Louie Louie" for Teen Spirit is actually pretty clever songwriting as it suggests and ironically comments on a rock standard, which arguably underscores what the song is about, if it's about anything.

Sorry, I'm still on the chord thing.
Cobain, himself, compared the riff to both "MTAF" and "Louie Louie," so the comparison's fair game, even if the progression's technically different.

Naturally, it doesn't stand up to the compositional marvel that is "Talk Dirty to Me," which struck all serious music critics as the most novel piece of songwriting in its time.

Too soon!
No matter what Cobain thinks, Teen Spirit really doesn't bear more than a fleeting resemblance to More Than a Feeling, Louis Louis, or any given Pixies song. His self deprecating streak gave plenty of ammunition to Nirvana haters.
