Funny, but I think the creator has only the barest concept of what a hipster actually is. Someone e-mail him the Hipster Bingo board stat!

I think a better title would be "Man, these people have nicer houses than we do". Some of the architecture on display is wonky, but hipsters? There's not enough skinny jeans and fake tears to qualify it.

Hipster no longer means anything any more. There once was a definition for that group, but now it's lost some of that.

Definition of "hipster" aside, I just think the captions are a pretty funny skewering of some of the aesthetics on display.

Unfortunate title aside, it's a pretty awesome site.

Seriously, hipster has become "anything that I don't like or is different from me".

I think hipster in this context is meaning 'cold, detatched pretentious people who've gotten rich from bullshit media things in the last 8 years and drifted away from humanity into a lonely cold mac based existance where couples barely speak to each other except when eating and discussing how organic their food is'

At least they didn't call it "Unhappy White People".

I sense chud's annual "who holds the most indepth knowledge and understanding of hipster culture" competition is about to begin. I see Dellamorte's just chomping at the bit to get started there.

Besides the lame bathroom with the drawings of appliances on the wall, most of the images just look Scandinavian. One gets the impression that the author harbors some bizarre ill-will toward dwell.com and tried his hardest to be unfunny about it.

I think part of it is that it's a large subset of white culture and probably the biggest element going in white kids trying to be hip, but it is a specific thing, and though arguably the irony of some of those spaces is in keeping with the ideology, one of the tenents of hipsterism is a superficial rejection of consumerism. You have a shitty apartment in the gentrified part of town, that you probably pay too much rent for, etc.

I'm more of a post-and-beam or Craftsman guy but some of those are actually really nice living spaces. I don't get the disdain.

My architect buddy would love some of those houses. He made his bathroom out of recycled yogurt pots and wood treated for use at sea.

So many right angles.

So much white.

Monolithic walls.

So little life.

Soul ... dying ... must ... look ... away ...

Bingo. Desperately trying to come up with funny, mocking captions for pictures that don't warrant them. Like the picture of the people in the park, the caption is all like "they're wearing sunglasses cuz they're empty and they don't want to face each other!" but they're wearing sunglasses because they're in a park on a sunny day, dumbfuck. They don't even look unhappy. This site sucks.

The hill had the perfect incline for rolling. And the trampoline was wildly exciting, at first. But crushing peanuts into the deck brought the grown-ups running, and was therefore deemed the most fun of all.
Awesome.

Proof that in the right hands anything can be funny. Even good design.

ETA: "He’d spent years cultivating a perfectly messy study. So to find that someone had stuffed a red volume on the umber-only bookshelves? Well, the proverbial shit hit the fan." killed me.

The real life Hipsters in Williamsburg decided they needed to appropriate underground fads and take them mainstream with a Chat Roulette party. Drink every time you see a penis!
