I realize, God forbid, that it would be wrong to celebrate actual cases of this, but I thought we could have a decent thread to unify the stupid bullshit that politicians get into, because I read today that Anti-gay California state senator Roy Ashburn (R) was arrested for a DUI after leaving a gay club and I thought this could be a catch-all for all the schaudenfreude that we experience seeing assholes brought low.

Any others out there right now?

What a disturbing article! Funny how the church would go to the ends of the earth to accost, torture and burn anyone who didn't bow to their reasoning, yet the speed at which they turn the other cheek when a priest sees fit to consecrate some poor teen's ass can't even be measured by most modern instruments.

I've written off organized religion pretty thoroughly. It has no connection whatsoever to any concept of faith I recognize. And yet, these clowns and their mindlessly indifferent flocks make me feel embarrassed about my faith anyway.

What I don't get is how these anti-gay Senators actually get INTO these gay bars. I mean, probably not a priority for them, but if I were running a gay bar (and one day I will) I'd have all my bouncers memorize who the anti-gay senators are and not let them in.

While I'm just as eager as any reasonable person to hang as many of these hypocrites as possible on their own petards, this thing sounds just a little weird. Even sounds like she may have instigated the blackmail route herself. She's lucky this isn't a 70s crime drama or Robert Culp would have put on his murder gloves and made her look 'mugged to death', welshing on a hush money deal and all. We'll probably never know. Not only that, this is real small potatoes. If this is a skeleton in the closet, it's the little plastic one you buy at Spencers.
