so, so, incredibly messed up. you can get it off kazaa, and the song rocks as well. very creepy. what are some other videos and songs that creep the hell outta you guys? eek!

I've heard of Aphex Twin at other boards... What kind of music is it, heavy metal?

Tool's "Prison Sex". Utterly fantastic in design and execution, a great song, but horrifying if you know the subject matter. There's one shot which completely personifies and sums up the sheer horror, where the hand of the legless baby raises, only to be pushed down by the mother figure cradling it. To me, it's chilling.

Aphex Twin makes really fucking weird techno music. Or is it ambient? Acid? Electronic Surf Jazz Fusion? I forget which. Basically, it's the sort of music Marilyn Manson wishes he could make, if he wasn't such a silly old pantomime queen.

I don't like it much, to be honest, but the videos are great.

anyone seen the video for "Ready, Steady, Go"? that is a pretty cool music video.

Aphex Twin is usually classified as IDM (intelligent dance music).it is extremely complex beat driven electronic music that is incredibly strange at times.i also am not a huge fan but it is still very very interesting music with lots of creativity behind it.his (cuz it is one man,Richard D. James) video for the song "windowlicker" is equally scary and hilarious at the same time.if you like AT,i suggest checking out Kid 606.sort of up the same alley just alot harsher.

i cannot sit through windowlicker... *shudder*
post #11 of 28
I can't sit through a minute of it without having the sound on mute. Good visuals but awful, awful music.
Downloading Windowlicker as we speak.
If it's half as creepy as Come to Daddy then I'll be happy

KaZaa, my friend, KaZaa!! you can get pretty much anything media related there.

but that's one of those file sharing things isn't it? I've sworn to myself never to use those things (the last time I did, it dowloaded a nasty gator spy program onto my pc without even asking me)

well, i figure, if you want it that bad, you gotta take a chance with the file sharing programs. otherwise, watch much music a lot. wink

Skinny Puppy are one of my tope 3 favorite bands of all time.the song WORLOCK is actually my favorite song by them.that video is so fucking cool.it is so different than what you'd expect for a sweet poppy piece like that.funny you mention Ministry, cuz Jourgensen produced that song and that whole album i think.
as for Fantomas (another fave.saw em live in Detroit) i dont think they have any videos off directors cut.there are a few flash videos for songs off the first album, nothing too special.
and since you like fantomas and kid 606,have you heard the song 606 and Patton did together?fucking amazing...

Glad you mentioned this shot. I thought I was alone in thinking that it's one of the most subtle-but-shocking shots in any video I've ever seen. Easily one of the creepiest thing's I've ever seen.

well, i can't find that worlock thing on KaZaa. i will keep looking. frown

its constantly changing.skinny puppy are always in the top 3 but the other 2 spots could include the Misfits, the Smiths,Depeche Mode, the Locust, the Dillinger Escape Plan or the Atari Teenage Riot depending on my frame of mind.
as for Rabies,i think Jourgensen's love of super repetition is way too obvious."fascist Jock Itch" would be a great song if it didn't do the SAME THING over and over.Last Rights and Too Dark Park are my favorite albums.Last Rights is probably the most psychotic record ever made."Knowhere?" is evidence enough.
have you heard OhGR,nivel's new band?its a huge departure from the Puppy sound but i think its still awesome.alot lighter sounding.

Also saw SP live on the Last Rights tour, and THAT was amazing. Before that, I offered a guy a hundred bucks to rent his car so I could catch the Too Dark Park extravaganza; I guess he didn't trust my driving skills. But Last Rights was comparable to seeing a David Cronenberg
movie acted out on stage, with a little old-school Polanski psychosis mixed in. Ogre as Catherine Deneuve...those were the days.
By the way, if you hadn't heard, Skinny Puppy just re-formed for a one off concert in Germany, which was so life-affirming for the band that they've got a new album coming out in '93, and a North American tour planned. Perfect timing, too. Those bastards have plenty of horrifying material to work with these days.
you saw SP on the Last Rights tour?you FUCKER!
i knew about the Dresden show, but i had know idea a full scale reunion was in the works.amazing!that would be religous to see the puppy live.

Richard James wa Richard D James aka The Diceman's twin brother. There is a picture of his tombstone on his previous to last album. Did you know Dr Dre used the Aphex Twin logo on a hubcap in one of his recent videos? Did he not understand to what extent Chris Cunningham and Richard were making fun of rap? And just let me say Aphex live is insane. Never have bass beats driven me body to such derranged contortions. And the aphex teddy bears humping each other on stage is a sight to behold indeed!

COME TO DADDY

Would somebody please tell me why Chris Cunningham isn't directing feature films? Any man who could direct the single most disturbing music video I have ever seen (it's a good three years old now, isn't it?) should be making horror movies.

No, wait, let's give that job to Jamie Blanks instead.
