Good stuff, like the ending.

If Michael had been defeated I would have to have had words. (in the match-up itself, that is)

I remember that very well. Being young, and with very little foresight at the time, I didn't take very good care of my issues of Fango, so this wound up cut out and taped to my bedroom wall. Most of my Fangos wound up suffering that fate. Wish I'd kept a lot of those older issues.

I still have it! But my Fango with The Fly on the cover went the way of the bedroom wall.

My childhood bedroom doubled as my makeshift special effects workshop. I needed all those photos, mag covers, and Scream Great posters plastered to the walls for inspiration.

Just shared this with Uncle Bob himself on his Facebook page.

Of course I got this issue the day it hit the newsstands, ya young whippers and snappers.

As did I. I go back to issue #20. E.G. Marshall (or, rather, Savini's sculpt of E.G. Marshall's head) spewing cockroaches on the cover.

Fango was never the same after Uncle Bob left, but I continued to buy it for years out of habit. The Kill Bill cover was my last issue, as I recall.

I'm pretty sure this was my first issue...

Oh yeah, all those classic over the top covers. The faces my poor mother made as she saw my Fango diet bloom.

Heh, that Kill Bill issue was not far from where I stopped my regular Fango devotion. I still check out the magazine from time to time, but never going out of my way for it either.

Also, when they changed their logo/cover layout recently, it really killed what little loyalty I had remaining. Can't stand the updated look. Bah!

Ah yes, I remember that one well. With a typically hilarious Klaus Kinski interview, ranting about Fitzcarraldo: "Herzog wanted to move the whole ship up the mountain! I say to that, 'Fuck that, asshole!'"

I think I remember reading this when I was in the Book Nook (local bookstore back in my hometown).

Uncle Bob sez: "hey that strip is more clever than I remembered...! And ultimately gives the win to a "dark horse." "

I still have all my issues. Someday I'll fill in the gaps in the collection and have 'em bound. Or maybe just the Uncle Bob years. Somewhere in the '90s they got kinda slick and corporate. By the time Jurassic Park was on the cover, the writing was on the wall.

Course, if they get smart and put the whole run out on a DVD-ROM, like Mad magazine and NatLamp did, I'll buy it.
