The framerate isn't as good and my friend encountered a weird(and constant) sound glitch, but yeah, buy it. It's still good.

I'm just here to say Fuck yeah. That's all.
can't wait.
I wonder if Valve knows we all want to play Half Life: Episode 3. Maybe someone should send them an email or start a petition or something!

Obviously super excited for new Portal. I can't remember the last time a game forced you to rewire your brain to solve puzzles.

Ever played Braid? Like Portal that game forced my brain to think in new and curious ways.

The only way Valve could be unaware that the world is a touch frustrated by the wait for the end of their "shorter games, but shorter gaps between releases!" episodic trilogy is if they've kept their entire staff locked in sensory deprivation tanks for the last couple of years.

"Thermal discouragement beams."
I've found something special!

Liquids, eh? If you put a blue portal on the ocean floor, and then you put an orange portal on top of a mountain, you've just made a brand new river.
Yeah, that was pretty great. Can't wait for this.
I'm on the 2nd to last level in Portal 1 and my excitement for this is only getting more intense. These last few levels are kinda nutty.
I hope that the liquids don't make it too much more taxing on your computer. I love Portal more than I love you, but my laptop can't take more intense gaming experiences.

So...you're only JUST PAST the half-way point...

Why is this thread so dead?

If you're on the fence about the potato sack, I can confirm that Amnesia, Defense Grid, Audiosurf, and Bit.Trip.Beat are all really cool.

I just assumed that everyne has already bought, preloaded it and is ready to go as soon as it unlocks, like I did. Am I wrong?

It's Portal 2 for fuck's sake, buying it is sort of a given.

I bought into the hype and am PS3-ing it.

I'm definitely playing some of the Potato Sack games once I get home though. Gotta unlock Portal 2 early.

The unlock time has already been moved forward to Monday for Steam. Awesome! We're definitely getting it in the weekend!

Almost forgot to pre-order this thing, just did so, and sent my free copy of the original Portal to a friend. I'll have to play some Defense Grid later today, maybe speed up that unlocking...

I am retarded for tower defense games, but Defense Grid is my favorite. It's like someone injected a friendly male GlaDOS into Pixeljunk Monsters.

It's fucking killing me that there are people whining about Valve doing this.

"Hey, by playing these great indie games you probably already own and if you don't can buy dirt cheap, you can play another great game earlier than you thought."

"Whaaah! Bad Valve, why would you do that!"

Because if there's one thing that gamers love more than games, it's whining when shit costs time and/or money?

Here's a link with all the details about what you need to do in the various games to earn the "potatoes":

https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1vPutCkoZKA9XL5ZjSuNXfX8NfoeHW3xcrv7DgalKUfE

I've only earned two so far, but I only have a couple of the games.

And as far as this gamer is concerned, this is a delightful move on Valve's part. What sort of idiot would complain about it? When the GlaDos computer voice showed up in my Defence Grid game, I giggled like a loon.

Found 4 potatoes so far. Gotta give it to Valve for kicking me off my ass to play some games I haven't gotten around to playing yet. Enjoyed the crap out of the Ball Portal level. That aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh hidden level owns me...and I quickly picked up on the Tegan and Sarah influence in that audiosurf song/challenge.

If anything pc gamers are efficient, just look at how fast they (we) unlocked that map in Bad Company Vietnam. Curious to see how soon Portal 2 opens up.

Argh. Lazy gamers. I want this unlocked already!

The Killing Floor is one of the more slower progressing games from the list. Probably the last one to go, if at all.

Finally beat the shit out of that secret Aaaaaaa level, don't think I five starred it but did manage to land without the parachute and not die. Grandma's cookie recipe is worth the price of admission to that game.

Audiosurf might be the next one to go. It's weird, I let the game idle on the portal track and managed to get a silver on it while I was downstairs making breakfast. Cogs just got wrapped up.

So satisfying to nab the Iron/Wood boy achievements in Super Meat Boy...so many cuss words uttered this Sunday morning - I'm going to hell.

Don't know why I really care about the thing unlocking early - I'll probably be at work when that happens. Think I'll fire of Defense Grid while the wife is out visiting friends.

I just had a terrible thought. If it turns out that I've put in all this hard work over the weekend and the release is early by however much only for you in the US, I'll go on a rampage.

Nah you'll be fine if anything magical happens...it's only Australia that gets consistently bent over when it comes to gaming.

And Germany.

Really wishing I could afford this at the moment, and that it was called Episode 3. Portal is amazing, but frankly, I'm no good at it. Portal and World of Goo strained my brain in ways I didn't want it strained. Still love them though.

And with that I'm the fuck out of any Portal 2 discussion, until I finish it myself. It appears details are leaking all over the internet.

You know, I feel a bit dickish not contributing more to the Portal 2 sooness.

But, in my defense, I ordered it for PS3 (with free Steam version!) from Amazon (with 20 bucks credit back!) so I wasn't getting that shit early anyways.

ENGAGING STARCH-BASED POWER CELLS

The potatoes have been activated.  I repeat:  The potatoes have been activated.

One of my bastard friends linked me to the new song at the end already. While catchy as hell, and (I dont think, anyway) not terribly spoilerful, the internet's gonna be a dangerous place for the next week or so.

Didn't The National write a song for this?

God, the Steam forum for Portal 2 is insane. Gamers are some weird mofos.

Yes, they wrote the credits song Justin had spoiled for him (if I'm not mistaken).

I've been doing really, really well spoilerwise so far and only know the vaguest premise of the sequel and one or two things I already assumed would be the case.  I generally try not to read what the unwashed masses have to say about video games, anyway, except for the fine upstanding citizens here.

Stephan Merchant for the win. This is glorious.

I'll take your word for it. For once I'm wishing I went console, freezing up on my PC every minute or so. I've played for 20 minutes so far, and it's literally all me downloading drivers/messing with the firewall/etc. and starting the game over to watch it freeze again.

That's surprising, as this engine's been around a while now. Did you have any problems with Half-Life 2 or the episodes?

Not at all.  I've played through everything without an issue.  I'm not the only person having the issue by a longshot.  I'm patient though.  I pre-ordered the game and wanted to play last night, but these things happen.  If it's still an issue in a week or so I might be less forgiving.

There's a nifty little interactive trailer for Super 8 in the Extras menu, using the game's engine. There's no spoilers or anything, but it's a cool little extra. It puts you on the ill-fated train...

Stephen Merchant, oh my God.  Killing me.

Trying to take my time with game, enjoying the hell out of it!  I did pre-order the game and I ended up with an extra copy of first game...so if anyone wants it, send me a message on steam and I'll gift it.

nwesley@purdue.edu is my steam id

Want to play this, but I feel I should wait and play the first Portal game before I do so. Ive never played the first one.

The first one is dirt cheap and will take you 2-3 days to finish.  May as well.

Definitely play the original first.  I wish I hadn't just gifted the extra copy I had away.  It's 3 - 5 hours long and an instant classic.  And if you happen to not like it, at least you know you shouldn't bother with the sequel.

I'm trying *not* to take my time with it so that I can read the internet again.  Shit just kicked up a notch too.

If you want a copy of the first game, drop me a line. I have an extra I can gift out.

I love killing zombies, but it's so nice to be playing a non-L4D valve game again. GlaDOS is so catty!

Does anyone know where the Extras menu is on the PS3 version of Portal 2? I want to check out the Super 8 thing, but I can't seem to find any extras menu item anywhere.

I just don't understand the hate this game is receiving.

Why are you paying any attention to reader reviews?

It's just interesting on what people are bitching about.  Kind of slowing down and looking at a train wreck.

I'm enjoying picturing all of these pro-gamerz playing through the potato sack games with clenched teeth, only to discover that THE REWARD ISN'T THAT GREAT AND THERE ARE DLC HATS FOR THE CO-OP ROBOTS. They did all of that horrible hard "work" for nothing!
