MLB 10: The Show

Having not had a PS3 until the Slim came out, and somehow throwing my lot in with Nintendo’s GameCube instead of a PS2 last generation, I’ve never had an opportunity to try this title out until now...

What in the fuck? How is it possible that Sony makes, by some incalculable order of magnitude, the greatest baseball sim on the planet? If it were nothing more than Road to the Show mode itself—mankind’s single greatest achievement—it’d be more than enough.

I mean, I’ve heard the general platitudes, but I’d have bought a PS3 years ago had I known then what I know now.

Jesus, the rock I’ve been living under must be enormous.

I'm not so much into the Road to the Show aspect as I am into the playing General Manager aspect of it. I enjoy building super teams. How detailed is it? Do you have minor leagues that you can stock? Drafts? Is there a salary cap requirement?

I wish a game like this would come out for 360.

I just don't have enough money to buy a PS3 for this.

Yes. Yes. You can also fantasy draft a team from scratch if you're not satisfied with your real life one. No salary cap per se, but you do have a budget based on various aspects (team income, sponsorships, team success, etc..)

I'd love to hear the thoughts from someone who has both the 09 and 10 versions.

I have 09 and love it. It's simply one of the best (if not the best) MLB game I've ever played. Is it worth picking up the new one? Updated rosters are nice but I can live without them. Is this years game just as good as 09?

If they patch out a few key problems, this year's MLB2k10 is a huge step up from previous efforts. I'd love to hear a comparison from people who've played both, as The Show is probably the only PS3 game that tempts me to own that system.
