It's probably because I'm in Rays country...as well as their douchey fans, that shit stadium, the whiniest announcers in MLB*, and the fact they've owned Boston going on 3 years now.
*case in point...when the Yanks were in Tampa a few weeks ago, after a bad call that went against NYY, I heard that curly-headed dick Dewayne Staats say "Wow, the Yanks cry as much as the Red Sox now!". Eat me.

I don't know if Martinez is the long-term answer at C, although I don't know if you have a lot of choice there. I do think you will always be in contention with a core of Pedroia/Youkilis/Buchholz/Lester & Bard.

Re-signing Beltre will be a priority as there's no other 3B's out there, but the Angels need one as well and will have money to spend. Maybe the Sox let him go if he and Boras seek 5/75. Jed Lowrie can slide to 3rd, but I'd rather him platoon with Scutaro at SS. Papi has a $12.5 mil team option that will most certainly not get picked up. I bet they offer him 2/16, but he needs to come back. Drew will be let go after his contract runs out as our OF is in decent shape for the future with Ellsbury/Kalish/Reddick (as long as Beltre, if re-signed, doesn't continue to break his teammate's ribs). Papelbon has to come back. He's more valuable to the RS than any other team, and I love having Bard as the setup guy (even with Tito not using him there all the time...soooo frustrating). They traded for Saltalamacchia, and he'll be able to relieve VMart of his C duties on occasion. It's hard to give up on a switch-hitting C who can bat 3rd, but we'll see what kind of money he asks for. The Sox put a waiver claim in for Mike Napoli, and to be honest, he's a great fit in Fenway (I know Josh Beckett would love to never have to pitch against him again), but the Angels pulled him back, although Mike Scioscia clearly doesn't like him.
The issue is gonna be health, first and foremost, but they have a lot of tough decisions to make coming up soon. Theo's got his work cut out for him.
