I've had her on ignore for months now, for the sake of my blood pressure, but the increasing number of posts ending in Devin pronouncing behavior as trolling forced me to take her off ignore to see what the hell the fuss is about now.

I don't like Princess Kate. I don't claim to know what the hell's wrong with her, and frankly don't give a fuck, and the fact that any one of you do is disappointing as hell. This is not Copperlocke the sequel. This is not the bride of Fleed, though I think getting those two together may very well open the seventh goddamn seal. This is a fairly dumb person with no social graces, and an absolute attention whore, but the fact is, there is no active harm being done. There's a point where we have to leave that big flaming bag of crazy at the door instead of stepping on it every time it shows up, killing every conversation she pops up in without fail. She's obviously not going anywhere, she has the right to be here long as she's not causing any harm. Least we can do is pretend she doesnt exist.

Moral of the story: Cut the shit, people. Youre better than this. Talk about some fucking movies.

What's really, really sad is that this is, what, the 5th fucking thread just like this?

Some people like drama, and are drawn to it like moths to a flame. Sadly, the frequency of incident might go up and down, but people are never going to stop engaging her in ways that totally derail threads into the territory of the dumb.

I've put her on Ignore. That will be the end of it for me, but I'm really wondering who's behind the Princess Kate persona. Her PM's have a much different tone than her posts.

Butthurt alert!

Look, I sometimes agree with Kate, and I've even got a genuine chuckle out of her posts every now and again. She definitely adds color to the boards, even if her perspective is slightly skewed and comes from a "look at me!" place.

But one of the things that makes CHUD great, one that keeps me coming back, is being able to tell someone when they're being stupid, or when they're using questionable language, even for CHUD, when you disagree with them so much, only hyperbole will do. And when I've crossed the line -- as I did recently -- I was like "my bad." Finally, if you look at two recent threads Kate's started (in the politics forum), there's been some quote-unquote "dogpiling," but the discussion's continued and has actually wound up being pretty worthwhile.

Now, I'm off to talk about some movies.

This must be at least the 5th thread about *me* (excluding my blog) since I've joined the site.

For people who profess to love movies so much, you think you'd all just either leave me alone and talk about movies amongst yourselves, or talk about movies with me (a topic I post about frequently).

I hate to say it, but I've been alot less impressed with CHUD (the forums anyway) the more time goes on, specifically because of this crap. I just want to converse with you guys about the topics at hand. If all you have to say to me in return is some half clever remark about my intelligence or other derailing insult, I'd really wish you would just keep it to yourselves

I understand that CHUD=snark. I get that. I do.

But I'm starting to feel that for me anyway, CHUD=venom and spite

I'm not gonna lie, I find PK kind of fascinating on two fronts - 1) she's actually been as active and unflagging as she has on a forum that usually flattens posters like her, which makes me wonder if it's sheer Fleed-like persistence on her part that's kept her alive or an overall push for civility on the boards, and 2) that anything she says is even for real. Some of her bits, from the retard thing to the indian thing to trademarking "CHUD-munity" make me wonder if anyone could really be that lacking in self-awareness; I'd say its all a gag but she seems so sincere.

Bottom line - I'm always keeping an eye out for her inscrutable take on things, it's usually pretty interesting (as long as it isn't one of those massive screeds with tons of foot-notes; those I skim. I'm not giving her that much of my time).

What people who advocate the ignore feature forget is that if that poster is quoted, the comments still show up, and it throws off the flow of the discussion on the screen.

If only those discussion were usually worth anything. That's the thing about the ignore feature. At first I didn't want to be left out of the conversation but then I realized that if I'm that tempted to put a user on ignore, chances are almost everything they say will not be worth my time. And if by some miracle they step into a worthy discussion, it will get picked up by the board at large. So I'm not really missing out. Most of the people conversing with Kate or fleed are just saying the same old thing. I know I'd be tempted to add to the dogpile if they weren't already on ignore.

I haven't had that problem. I generally don't frequent threads she's in. And the few I have, she wasn't quoted.

Agreed there, it would be a nice feature to have to be able to screen quoting.

As for who PK is, I have no idea, but i'm sure she isnt allowed near any sharp objects.

Whats the point of hating someone on a message board?

Unless someone personally insults you there's absolutely no reason to be arsed who says what and to whom. If PK says things that annoy you either infrequently or constantly then simply ignore them or counter her argument with your own clearly superior argument.

I'd be more offended by the more personal insults that fly around these boards from time to time that the random posts or arguments of someone who has absolutely no relevance to me outside of these boards.

I've had a couple of discussions on these boards where PK has chipped in and if I've ever disagreed with her I've never let it bother me - If you think someone is playing for attention, just let them and move on - its the type of thing you learn around the age of 11 or 12.

As for PK herself, I wish her no ill will and hope she's doing just fine.

a) I sigged that quote months ago, when PK's posts did interrupt my CHUD browsing. (Her ranting in the Basterds thread was especially unbearable and difficult to wade through because she responded to each post separately for pages on end.)

b) I barely notice my sig and hadn't thought to remove it. ("Remind myself of her every time I post?" Really?)

c) Being compared to Uwe Boll is pretty much the worst - and funniest - insult ever, even for CHUD standards.

I've officiall spent more time thinking about Kate in this post than my entire tenure on CHUD. You're barking up the wrong tree with me. I've learned, that personally, having someone who posts prolifically on the ignore list is more distracting for me than just skipping the post. That being said, ignoring what Kate says would be a lot easier if she would stop posting pictures in her posts for no reason. Otherwise, she's easy to ignore if you don't care for her brand of douchebaggery. The people clogging the threads bitching about her need to knock it off though, it's just picking a scab.

I've always found the ignore function kind of stupid, it's like an Elizabethan collar for people who have no self-control. I suppose if people did have a little self-control, conversation would continue unabated and threads like this would never happen.

Yeah, putting her on Ignore hasn't harmed the "flow" of any threads for me. First, I don't care what she says. If she's quoted, I can, if I want to bother, figure out what the responder is addressing. If it's just a non-quoting response, I either figure it out or (most often) shrug and move on.

Nope, it just removes the clutter. As has been mentioned, PK has a hard on for posting massive amounts of pictures in her posts. Threads load much faster with those blocked.

As a general rule I hate the ignore feature and never use it. To date there is only one person I've ever used it on, and I find CHUD to be a much easier to read place now.
