I've been around these parts pretty regularly for a couple of years now... But many of you have been around for much longer and have a history.

So I'm just curious when I ask this... Back when, say, duke fleed first showed up... Were there also bi-weekly threads devoted to him where everyone got to bitch about how they "don't get what's wrong with him" and then go on and on about "the ignore feature" ... etc?

If so, how long before that fad was extinguished?

I guess it's part of CHUD's rite of passage to get ganged up on by the veterans. I certainly fell victim to it when I first showed up here and some of you didn't quite "get" me. Happy to say I survived.

I also want to thank you for not devoting every other week to Erix Sux threads back in the beginning. I appreciate that. It would've gotten kind of annoying after a while.

Generally fake accounts either run their course or become unbearable. Generally because they are one note. I can't imagine the dedication it would take to be Kate. I think people like thinking Kate and Fleed are fake accounts because it suggests less bad things about the world. I hate believing that people follow what Glenn Beck says, but they do. Such is life.

Yeah, there were similar threads about Fleed...and they didn't stop until Kate hit the scene. So we basically have to wait until the next flamebait shows up. Encouraging words, I know.

If she/he isn't fake, I can't imagine what would motivate someone to keep returning to a site/message board when nearly everyone on the site has them on ignore, or outright states that they cannot stand that person.

Also, if anyone thinks all her posts are fine because she/he talks about movies, must not read any of her posts or read posts that contain her quotes. When she/he attempts to post about movies, very rarely do they discuss the film in the thread. Most of the time the name of the movie will be mentioned, and then a bunch of random pictures and wild tangents will follow that focus on Massachusetts or something else completely unrelated.

As for this thread, while it was generated in good intention, all it does is give Princess Kate more attention. Which she/he loves. While Princess Kate has apparently not broken any rules establishing banishment, it would be nice if members could be prohibited from posting if a high enough percentage of people have them on ignore.

Meh, PK gets me hot.

I don't see the big deal. All she does NOW is show up in a thread, say something, and no matter what she says someone says some smart ass insult back. Then she says shit back explaining her POV in a reasonable manner (even if what she said wasn't reasonable). Then more people post insults criticizing what she said back, and thus the thread gets derailed. The most she does is respond to the insults (a bit too seriously), if she ignored them, it wouldn't be so bad. It's not enough for someone to reply her simply with "I don't agree".

I think that sums it up perfectly. She doesn't troll, she makes a point and then when asked to explain it she does in a calm and rational mannor.

A few months ago we had a disagreement in a thread over the Royal Family, we argued back and forth for a bit and agreed to disagree. She then pm'd me and apologised if she had upset me, (which she hadn't).

To me that show far more maturity and class than a hell of a lot of posters on this board.

People who have no problem with the likes of PK, I have to wonder: Would you feel the same way if there were more people like her? I mean if the boards were more like the CHUD (or heaven forbid, the AICN) talkbacks, wouldn't that destroy part of what you like about CHUD? I'm positive it would for me. And that's why I ignore her. It's that simple. And if you don't mind PK but would not like it if there were more of her type, why would the volume make a difference?

I don't believe it's accurate to compare her board posts to the shitflinging that goes on in the talkbacks. I've yet to see Kate pop into a thread with a post consisting entirely of "Hi, just letting you know I think you're stupid." I have no problem with more Kates. I would consider it an improvement over the environment here now.

Dude, Princess Wiki was spawned from the Talkbacks. She originally was there giving Devin shit after all his articles. When they disappeared she disappeared. She showed up on the boards months later claiming she had "just found them" somehow. She apparently had no idea how to navigate the site nor that there were boards here at all.

No snobbery at all. Just calling it like I see it. I've been reading these boards for a long time, and this cycle is no different than 2005 or 2006. It's just the same tired bullshit that goes on in every forum on the internet.

Personally, I prefer earnestness and stupidity to hatefulness and intelligence. So I don't have any problem with PK, while I do find it very wrong that people are so vile toward her. If that's "snobbery", so be it.

ETA: It doesn't matter if PK is playing a long-con troll game, either. Right now, she's doing no harm and obeying the rules. If in the future it turns out she was trolling us, well, at least I didn't act like a raging douchebag when she was being OK.
