The Leprechaun franchise

Seeing as it's soon to be St. Patrick's Day, I feel it's time to celebrate the greatest of all horror franchises. Personally, my favorite entry is LEPRECHAUN 3, masterfully directed by Aussie genre king Brian Trenchard Smith. I also feel that Las Vegas is a great setting for the Leprechaun, seeing as greed plays such a huge role in the mythology.

What are some of your favorite moments of the series?

I've always had a soft spot for Leprechaun 4: In Space. The series as a whole is amazingly cheesy, but there's so much greatness on display here. I love just about everything from the gratuitous nudity-as-death sentence to ending on Leprechaun's giant hand giving our heroes the middle finger as it floats through space.

For those of you who won't have time to enjoy any of the films today, here's a nice ten minute mash up of some of the finer points of the series.

I've seen all of these. I don't remember any of them, except for the one where the Leprachaun smokes pot (which oddly enough is the best way to get through a Leprachaun movie). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obnA2cKxhn0&feature=fvw.

Finding that clip did lead me to this awkwardly edited Leprachuan vs Chucky trailer though, be careful it must red band because Chucky gives the middle finger a bunch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU23P...eature=related

Having just recently seent the first one on TV the other day, I gotta say that the denim guy character, man! He's like they ripped out Kevin Bacon's character in Tremors and slapped him in there.

Their wardrobe is nearly the same. And they're practically the same character. Though Bacon's Mckee gets bonus points for being in the better movie and having Fred Ward as his BFF.

Also like to add that I was scared for Ozzie for a second. Getting his face slashed up like that by a shoebuckle from a leprechaun. Mark Holton deserves a better death scene. Luckily he was save by chewing gum and a clover. (God that sounds extra ridiculous)

Never saw 2 or 3 or the space one.

I've got the triple feature DVD of the first 3. They need another cheap release for 4-6. I've been wanting to revisit these for the past week or so. Too darn busy.

I did watch the G-rated (and Corman produced) A VERY UNLUCKY LEPRECHAUN recently with Warwick Davis in the title role! My daughter loved it. Sadly, no pogo-stick deaths. But it did have Otter from ANIMAL HOUSE as a widowed Dad.
