I'm pretty sure this was shown last night it in light of recent accusations about the Catholic Church. It's a very hard film to watch especially the "You are not a man of god" scene; in fact it must be the only film I have seen where I am actually rooting for the protagonist to beat up a Nun.
Some great performances from the three young leads but the film is owned by Geraldine McEwan's mother superior, its a credit to her performance that throughout the film you are wondering if she is genuinely evil or actually believes what she is doing is right.
The ending is both uplifting and depressing especially with the statement that these "Washhouses" didn’t completely shut down till 1995.
Anyone else seen this?
