Someone please reassure me...

On buying Bad Taste. I don't know if I should just buy it right off without even seeing the movie before. I have loved all of PJ's movie's, but after seeing Meet the Feebles (which I think is in the top three worst movies of all time), I don't know if this will be as great as I hope it is. So...would it be wise to buy it?

Bad Taste is incredibly cheap, incredibly funny and very, very sick. Peter Jackson plays the lead role, and the whole film only involved about ten people (if I remember correctly).

It is very much an amateur film - Jackson's own "Within The Woods", rather than his "Evil Dead".

I love it - it gives you a brilliant insight into Jackson's sense of humour, and the fact that he only made another four films between Bad Taste and Lord Of The Rings shows just how fast he's grown as a director.

But if you didn't enjoy the fucked-up majesty of Meet The Feebles, I'd definitely rent Bad Taste before buying it. It's more in that vein than anything else he's done since.

me, i liked it in a morbid way when i saw it in a theater a few years back, but i don't feel compelled to see it again...
buy it. buy it now. really, it's pretty damn cool, if a little cheap looking.

Yes, definitely low budget with over-the-top gore. Personally I didn't care much for it.
its very funny, full force gore-comedy, and well directed, check some of th editing, shot sequences in the fight scenes...i don't think its much like feebles at all..

It's closer in tone, humour and style to Feebles than his other stuff, and if our Plastic friend thought Feebles was one of the worst made films ever, I think they'd find the cheapo approach of Bad Taste equally annoying. If you're in any doubt, rent it first.

what i meant was that it has none of the sexual humor of feebles, and it doesn't have the elements of parody that feebles had and it's humor is more "innocent" in its own way than feebles, i.e. really gross slapstick.

Having not seen it for years, I just saw it again recently and realized what a great movie it really is. I say get it, but make sure you get the cheap one. The "special edition" is NOT worth the money.

How long is the featurette on that second disk? Also, is the video quality the same on both disc's?

Heheh...well, we'll see if I like it in 90 hours. I just found it on KaZaA, so I started to download. Hopefully I will enjoy it!
If there's a Best Buy in your area, the 2 disc set is definitely worth it - because I got it there for $19.99.

It's not like Feebles. I love Feebles, but Bad Taste is a trillion times more accessible than Feebles.

And fuck the Kazaa deal...go buy it, wouldja'?

Ah, yes...but you see I am kinda neurotic about this sorta thing. I have to know that I like it before I buy it. Just to buy a CD I go through lots and lots of research on who liked it, are the songs good, etc. I am a stickler on where my money goes.

Your opinion taken, but people that say the same about Bad Taste also say that Meet the Feebles is some of the funniest things they have ever seen. So thats why I am trying to figure out if I should buy before renting.

Exploding sheep..... thats all I have to say.....
And a car with cardboard cut-outs of The Beatles in the front.

And a man (PJ) stopping his brains from falling out by tying his belt around his head.

And a really nasty bout of puke-drinking.
It's a fun film, but not one you can take terribly seriously. I like the obsession with "the Magnum", and the exploding sheep.

Feebles though, is... well, feeble (sorry)

Woah...exploding sheep? Really?? Damn, that basically sells it for me. To bad it's not Penguins...I like penguins.

Ohh been there done that! I love Wallace and Gromit! It is one of the best claymation short movies ever. Hell, they even won an oscar.

everything is going to be alright...

I love Bad Taste. It's just about my favorite movie (although Dagon is fighting mightily for that position).

I love all of Jackson's works. I consider Bad Taste to be the best. But then, I also quite enjoy Meet the Feebles and do not consider it to be the least of his works.
It has a guy eating another guys brains straight from his head with a spoon!! What more could you ask for from a movie??
Bad Taste also has the most incredible death by chainsaw that I've ever seen.

It's got Derek, played by Peter Jackson, torturing the alien Robert, who's also played by Peter Jackson. If that isn't great, I don't know what is.

Real brains. You have to love movies that use real brains.
I love the movie and don't regret buying the special edition. It cost five bucks more than the single-disc issue, and it had the cool 'offensive' cover art. Pretty good deal.

Sorry, I know I'm bringing up an old article but I have finally seen Bad Taste (god sent straight from Austin Texas) and here is my final verdict.

Holy shit this movie ROCKED!

I gotta buy it...but really, does anyone know if this is actually going to get a good DVD?

Best delivery of wanker I have ever heard.

It took me a long time fastfowarding and step-by-stepping to realize Derrik was actually PJ. I was shocked...never knew. eek! Great movie though, hilarious. That pinecone scene.

AND EXPLODING SHEEP!

If you don't like MEET THE FEEBLES you might not like this but if you liked BRAINDEAD/Dead-Alive then you might somewhat enjoy it. I love BRAINDEAD, it's one of my all time favorite movies and I think Bad Taste is stuck somewhere in between the two (Meet The Feebles -bad taste- BRAINDEAD).
That's exactly my opinion.

You can see that the same guy made all three movies. Same gross sense of humor, same wild camera work. I didn't care for Feebles, I love Dead Alive, and Bad Taste was good goofy fun. I don't feel the need to own it, but I'd watch it again. I almost puked myself during the puke scene. A feeling I hadn't had since I saw the pudding scene in Dead Alive...

I seriously did not know what was going on with the 'swallow the chuck' scene. I was like, "What the fuck?"

found that the humor was nothing like Feebles. Feebles wasn't very funny, this was hilarious. I died laughing when Derrek drove in with the Sargent Peppers truck, and the look on Pauls face. Classic.

The porridge (or pudding) scene still gets me. Gosh...when she eats her own ear...
