I had never seen this before, but I figured any film feauturing Boris Karloff, Roger Corman, Peter Bogdanovich, and Lazlo Kovacs was worth a shot, and the movie is pretty damn great.
The whole time while watching the two concurrent stories, one of a bitter old actor looking to get out of the business and the other of a guy who goes all Charles Whitman on everyone, I was wondering how it would come together. But, the ending ties the two stories together gracefully, and watching Karloff stalk and bitch slap the sniper filled me with joy.
Karloff is wonderful as the old, dickish, and kinda sweet retiring actor, and the finale at the drive-in theatre is really intense stuff.
