YES. Heard good stuff about this from a friend who lives in Spain and I've been kinda chomping at the bit to check it out.

Looking forward to this. I haven't actually seen the original, but I did see Quarantine and enjoyed it, though I've been lead to believe that it's nowhere near the quality of REC.

1) Why isn't this on the MAIN PAGE forum?

2) Is this bad news for a possible sequel to the Jennifer Carpenter version?

Ms Carpenter reacts to the news that REC 2 hits the states before QUARANTINE 2

Watched this off PSN last night and loved it. I only saw Quarantine, and it must have been virtually identical to REC (with exception of the cause of the infection) because the transition was seamless. REC2 is much better than Quarantine. The "rage zombie" thing isn't very fresh, but they work in a root cause that makes it much more entertaining.

So very, very disappointed by this. I don't mind the idea of a monster "evolving" in a believable way over the course of a series (classic example: Romero's zombies from Night through to Survival), but this sequel PISSES all over the perfect monsters of the first (the priest talking makes them stop mid-attack! who thought that would be a good idea for a rabid zombie movie?). It destroys that delicate and perfect hinted-at science/supernatural overlap of the original movie. The pure intensity and palpable claustrophobia of the first one is gone completely -and it's the same damn location! The characters are mostly stupid and shitty in this one too. Worst crime is they show what happens right after the ending of REC, turns out it's some Jason Goes to Hell nonsense. I was like NO WHY DID YOU HAVE TO FUCK WITH THAT ENDING YOU BASTARDS. The Nina Medeiros zombie was the stuff of nightmares first time around, in this one she's just... there.

Couple of ok jump scares here and there, but the rest of the film pissed me off so much that basically I wish it didn't exist. Sucks because I was so excited for this. Been a Balaguero fan for a decade.

Maybe it blunted the mystery and suggestion of the first one, but I liked that there was a singular driving force behind this rather than just another science-gone-bad scenario. Okay, so you could call this Exorcist Action Squad if you wanted, but it opened the door for more surreal/supernatural events and allowed them to play with the rules a bit more. That kept me on my toes more than anything.

That's disappointing to hear. The first one was such a perfect little horror flick. I completely agree about the science/supernatural mystery of the first one too. I don't need to know anymore about the situation, and it ended on a such a great note. I think I'll just sit this one out.

I wouldn't put too much stock in a negative review. This was maybe one of the best times I've had at the theater. See the movie if you get a chance, it's way too damn much fun to miss.

I guess I was mainly concerned about having them give out too much information about the nature of the disease and potentially demystify alot of the science vs supernatural stuff.

Sorry Kevin, didn't mean to burst any bubbles. But I will say this, there are times when it feels like a completely different disease compared to the first movie. I wasn't happy with that at all, but who knows, maybe you'll actually like where they take it.

Wait. The first movie hinted at a demonic virus. It's not that anymore?
It's indisputably a demonic virus in this one.
