Dear Chewers,

Are there any reliable 1080P Tv's with HDTV's getting cheaper price wise? I am looking for something 40 inches or larger.

Well I'm not in philly but so I don't know what local stores you may have. While the internet might have better deals, I'm a little picky when it comes to bigger items just incase there is a defect and shipping ain't cheap.

So check out the Panasonic Viera 42" 1080p plasma at Best Buy. Its 799.99 and I'm sure you could get the warranty and still be under a 1000.

Now HDMI cables, get them off Amazon or monoprice. This is in case you're going HD for something like cable or blu-ray.

If you're feeling brave to go without the warranty, I know Sony has some 3D capable blu-ray player selling for $200.

edit: The protection plan for 4 years is under $200. If you're wanting to keep taxes included under 1000, then the 2 year plan is like 50 cheaper.
Seriously though, the best thing is to go check it out yourself. Some people have different preferences.

edit edit: Best Buy will price match Target and Walmart websites. Use that info wisely.

I own the diamond series Mitsubishi DLP's, which is fantastic but over that $1,000 criteria, however I've heard some decent things about this model, for the price.

These are the one's I bought. The key on Amazon is to get the free shipping ones and I prefer Ferrite cores.

These are the ones I have running between the PS3 and the Onkyo 606. Everything is going great.

I have a monoprice DVI->HDMI one I use for connecting the laptop sitting around somewhere. Payed like $5 for it.

I pulled a prank on an uncle who has a similar setup, but he decided to get the cables in store. I told him I did the same, and he was blown away how the quality was amazing. I then told him I paid only $10 for my two cables and he was then sad.

On that note, and back to topic, a lot of nice HDTVs have some sub standard sound, but its kinda assumed you'll connect them to a sound setup.
