I don't trust a word that comes out of Katherine's mouth.
God, every single week feels like an episode worthy of a season finale. Rose needs a better hairdo. The Bonnie/Jeremy thing is horribly forced. As I said last week, they are shoving these two down our throats and I don't like the taste of it, though Jeremy is nice to look at all of a sudden. Selene and Michael...err, I mean Caroline and Tyler has potential to become awesome and tragic, because you KNOW one of them is going to die as a result of this relationship. Maybe even both of them.

Damon's look of relief and joy as Elena smiled and ran down the stairs, only to realize that she was looking as Stefan, actually got to me a little, but I'm still of the mind that Elena needs to stay the hell away from him. Judging from that last scene, he agrees with me.
Bonnie and Jeremy are also two of the weaker actors on the show, so putting them together is king of painful, I think.

I like that they are getting into the larger vampire world, with the Originals and all that. That's going to be interesting, especially since it looks like the other vampires are a lot stronger than Stefan and Damon.

I'm potentially marching into a minefield here, but I find it a little off-putting that this show keeps trying to put Bonnie into romantic relationships with other Black characters. As soon as a Black guy shows up, she's all over him. That guy at the fair and now this Luka character (who is Richie from Family Matters, so I'll never take him seriously). Maybe it's just me, but I've always found it weird when TV shows pair off the minorities, like no one else would find them attractive save for people of their race. Having the same skin color doesn't make people automatically compatible. Then again, maybe she's attracted to Black guys, and since they are few and far in between in this town, she pounces on every single one she sees. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. I just find it a little weird.

Did not buy Damon trying to comfort Rose after the Elijah attack. Did not buy him making that face after she said he could trust her. Did buy the pity fucking.

LOVED that Elijah caused that much trouble with those coins, and even slipped the guitar player a Benjamin to make up for the money he stole. Deadly AND considerate!

I couldn't follow all of what Katherine was saying about how to break the curse. Gonna have to watch that section again. Still unclear about why a Petrova doppleganger is needed. Also, if Kat is the first doppelganger, does that mean that she's a copy of someone else? Are there other copies walking around? And I sense that Katherine's baby girl is going to play into this. Maybe she's a vamp and still around somewhere.

The producers have said multiple times that it ain't happening.

At least not this season...
They date in the books, but the books sound awful.

I get what you mean, Harley, but it's like that on tv in general. Black people have to be like, quarantined in terms of dating. It's just kind of bizarre. There's no reason she should be gaga over every random guy who just shows up for an episode.

Especially if it's Little Richie from Family Matters.
What is the curse, anyway? I missed that whole part.

nv, they had a whole scene spelling it out for dummies like me.
This ep was sort of eh. Not high on their usual "HOLY SHIT OMFG WHAT DID I JUST WITNESS!!!!!" scale. This one was more focused on the burgeoning new relationships than unfolding the mythology fueling the show.

Out of all the new couplings, Tyler and Caroline shone brightest tonight, even though they had the least amount of screentime. That scene where they are watching Mason's video tape was something out of a horror movie. Genuinely disturbing, and Tyler's terrified reaction as he realizes that the video goes for hours was perfect. Those two are hitting the sheets soon, and I can't wait.

No1curr about Bonnie/Jeremy. I don't buy him having such strong feelings for her so quickly, but hey, this is a hormonal teenage boy we're talking about. Still, they're forcing this relationship on us. That kitchen scene at the end didn't hit the emotional high they were going for because this relationship has no real foundation. I say this every week, but it's still true. And I don't remember Jeremy being quite so big last season. It's really noticeable in that last scene just how buff he's gotten. Someone's sipping on gym and juice.

If throwing Stef in a tomb is how they are going to get Elena and Damon to start fucking, I'll be horribly disappointed.

Where'd all the VD fans go in here?

This episode was sort of all over the place. Katherine is boring me now. Stefan is boring me now. Ian Somerhalder really needs to stop with the eye thing that he does that he thinks passes for acting. Seriously, it's absurd. Elena needs to stop mumbling. And we're really going to leave the show for five weeks with a cliffhanger...that hinges on a tertiary character who I have ZERO emotional connection to? REALLY, writers? Why should I anticipate the next episode? "Oh no, I gotta see if Rose is gonna die?!" I couldn't care less about her or her haircut that went out of style five damn years ago.

But Tyler/Caroline? Solid GOLD. That transformation scene was painful to watch, and Caroline was a trooper and a damn good friend. Can't believe how much I like her now compared to Season 1.
I don't think fans of the show really want themselves "VD Fans" y'know?

Nice!

I'm kinda liking how most of the main characters are simply playing their parts as pawns in the manuevering between the Originals. It's how it should be, especially as most are doing so unwittingly.

Caroline has definitely been my favorite character this season, her being turned has given the actress much more to work with. It's nice seeing a character go through a major change and not be killed off shortly thereafter (see Vicki in season 1).

I expect Rose is being used as an Example, to give us a better idea of exactly how the werewolf bite affects vampires, so it is a more real and concrete threat when our main cast eventually has to face it.

Got the first season box-set as an Xmas gift for a friend who is a big True Blood fan. I told him that he'd love this, and he scoffed at me. Called it "Twilight-lite". He just called to tell me that he watched the whole thing in two days. I love hooking people onto good shit.

The show is awesome and the second season has done a great job building upon the foundation laid out in season 1. They have done a great job of giving every character something interesting to do. In season 1 esp early season 1 half the characters had completely uninteresting groanworthy storylines but in this season each character from Bonnie to Elena has had something interesting. My only gripe is how sidelined Alaric has become, he was the best thing about Season 1- a badass vampire hunter and this season they completely sidelined him. I hope he gets more to do once the show resumes. It would be a shame if the writers waste such an awesome character.

The show is definately better than True Blood. If it was not on the CW and had a different title it would have gotten a lot more respect as it would not have people like your friend just dismissing it based on superficial attributes.

Agreed. People are seriously missing out, and whenever I rave about it, all I get is rolled eyes and chuckles. Not only did my friend burn through the box set, he got our other True Blood-loving friends to watch it, and now they're all catching up on Season 2 online before new episodes start up again.

New ep tonight, and it looks like this guy will be Klaus!

Tonight's ep kinda sucked.  Don't give a shit about Rose, although I get that it was supposed to be more about Damon's emotional state.  We've covered this ground with Damon already.  It's like they're going in circles with him.  Bleh.  No Bonnie or Jeremy tonight.  They were not missed.

Finally caught last week's episode. Caroline won the show  for "why does everyone keep kissing me!"

Looking forward to next week's episode. Sounds like it'll be better then the hour long death knell for Rose.

This show has done some pretty gruesome stuff, but Caroline being tortured was agonizing to watch.  Fuck you Tyler!

After tonight Caroline is officially my favorite character on television.

And f Tyler and all his wishywashyness.

Also it was so good to see Sark (I can't remember the actual character's name) finally be a good dad and admit that her adoptive parents were Elena's real parents. I still don't trust him, but that was a very nice moment.

And Elena and Bonnie are terrible friends. They need to be over there helping out Caroline instead of chatting with their respective pretty boys.

Vampire Diaries: it gives me feelings.

EDIT: Then I got to the end of the episode and the girls all hung out and hugged while dumb emo music played. Thank you Vampire Diaries! You read my mind!

Jenna is the worst guardian ever.  In the preview for the next episode, Stefan and Elena take off on a romantic weekend at a cabin somewhere.

You are allowing a 17 year old girl to go away for a ROMANTIC WEEKEND ALONE WITH HER BOYFRIEND.

You have overheard them having sex IN YOUR HOUSE in a previous episode AND MADE A JOKE ABOUT IT.

WHAT.

So lemme get this straight. Jules is responsible for Caroline's torture and near-death last week.  Jules is responsible for Elena nearly being kidnapped and surely killed this week.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand Tyler decides to go away with this person?  I know he's a scared lil' werewolf and she can teach him the ropes, but I don't buy him leaving with this woman who has lied to him at least twice (saying that Caroline killing Mason and lying by omission in regards to Elena), especially since he gets so pissy when people lie to him.  Don't buy him trusting her at all.

Stefan's hypocritical with Elena in regards to the deal.  I know he loves her and all that jazz, but he almost dies for her every single week, and she doesn't bitch him out for it.

Liked the sequence where she's hiding from/attacking the wolf dude.  I like when they show her being proactive like that.  I'd like to see more of it.

Damon's nod of approval as Elijah owned those wolves cracked me up big time.

Jeremy is HOT.  You are correct, Bonniesmile.gif

Tyler is an idiot. "You guys want to break the curse so you can walk around in the sun...like you do every day."

So stupid.

He's an idiot for leaving, but not when it comes to the curse.  If the curse was broken by the wolves, they could change at will, meaning he'd never have to change again if he didn't want to.  He doesn't want to.  It wasn't about walking around in the sun, from the wolves' perspective.  I understand that logic.

This ep seemed to lag somewhat until Elijah's first death.  Way to fake me out on Elijah's death only to kill him again in the same episode, but there's a good shot that he'll be back, which makes me happy.  And Kat's back!  Woohoo!

I have to say, I saw some non-spolier promo pics from next week's ep that showed Stefan and Damon in the Salvatore mansion with who I now know for sure is Katherine.  She's wearing clothes that sort of look like Elena's gear, but just looking at Nina Dobrev's posture in the picture had me convinced that it was Katherine.  Really says something about her performance when I can tell who's who simply by the way that she's standing.

I missed Caroline.

No new episodes until April?!  FUCK THAT!

Great ep tonight.  Matt is not long for this world, I'm afraid, which will break my friend's heart.  And I was actually surprised that Damon didn't fuck Katherine at the end of the episode.

And oh my fucking fuck, Isobel!

Caroline hypnotizing a band so she can seduce Matt with Bangles music? Best thing on television this week. Followed closely by the myriad of faces Bonnie made right before and during the performance.

But yeah, Matt is not long for this world.

It's a little freaky how good this parody is.

Fuckin' FINALLY, a new ep and I dug it.  So much shit went down, I could barely keep up.

Klaus should have possessed Jenna instead, but Alaric is a fine choice. Wish Izzy had hung in there a bit longer.  Barely scratched the surface with her.  All of Jeremy's girls die, so I expect the tradition to continue, but since Klaus ain't dying this season, neither will Bonnie...I think.  How did Katherine know what dress Elena would wear, and where did she get a duplicate?  Caroline fucked up big time.  Damon will have her head for that.  Speaking of him, the SOAP DISH, dude?  Seriously?!  That's where you hide life-saving shit?!

And for the first time in Mystic Falls...A WHITE WITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breathless.  Jeez, this show!

Wow, my guilty little pleasure CW show is really turning into a compelling story!

I'm kinda liking what they're doing with Bonnie.  I like the actress, have just not liked what they've done with the all powerful character from a story perspective, but now they have a good engagement for her.  She's in the story as long as uber Klaus is, so it balances.  My only complaint is Caroline is not featured enough, or she's just been used as a plot point for Matt and Mama, but she's the more interesting character, so I'll give them some slack and see how that story plays out.  The racism analogy is sorta amusing, I'm assuming Kyle XY's mom will eventually be OK with her daughter as a vamp.

Never die, Elijah.  NEVER DIE!  Sexy as hell.

Damon's non-stop whining about special snowflake Elena is tired as hell.  Move the hell on.  It's not sweet.  It's obsessive and flat-out sick.

ETA: Just random theory here, but Elena and Katherine are dopplegangers of a certain woman.  A woman that Elijah knows, since he says that Katerina reminds him of someone during their first meeting.  And Elena and Elijah do look similar.  Could Elena be a doppleganger of Elijah's mother?!

Edited by HarleyQuinn22 - 4/21/11 at 8:57pm
post #83 of 93

They have to be dopplegangers of a vampire, right? So maybe one of the original Originals, or the one who made Elijah? I wish they'd focus more on that, but I guess there's no show with no mystery. The woman would have to be pretty old if Katherine was her copy, because Katherine is a few hundred years old herself.

They never said that Elena and Kat are dopplegangers of a vampire.  Could be anyone at this point.

Dear sweet fucking GAWD, shit just keeps getting so real.  I was FURIOUS at Damon for forcing being a vampire on Elena, and she was not NEARLY angry enough.  Not even close.  I loved the scene where she broke down as she spoke about her future being lost.  That was seriously heartbreaking to watch.  I didn't like everything with Stefan/Elena before that point.  It was too light and cutesy considering what was about to happen to her, and if I were in her position, I'd die just to spite Damon.  Hahaa Jenna went from knowing about vamps to being a vamp in the span of two weeks!  I don't think that Jenna will make the full transition to vamphood.  I think she's going to die.

Damon is such a cunt, I can't even with him anymore.  I hate the character, his buggy eyes, his temper tantrums, his total disrespect for the woman he claims to love, and his nonstop mooning over Elena.  They have completely ruined this character. FUCK HIM.

Fun fact: the exterior of the hospital where Caroline/Tyler first meet is actually the production office for the show.  Recognized it from the BTS stuff.

ETA: Where the hell is Bonnie's cousin?  The witch from the Masquerade episode?  Did that actress give them trouble or something?  Where is she?

She left town that same episode and made it seem like she wasn't going to ever come back. It was kind of a shame. Like Oh hey, I could help, but you know. Peace. I don't even think she gave Bonnie her last name, that was a plot thread that should not have been dropped.

Elena should have been a lot more angry, I agree. But Damon had the right idea trying to keep her alive. It was just a terrible idea.

I wonder how they are going to solve the werewolf bite.

But she told Bonnie she'd see her again before she walked away.  "Don't worry, cuz.  You'll see me again."  I keep waiting on her to appear, and she never does.

At this point, I'm rooting for Damon to die and for Elijah to take his place.  I seriously cannot stand Damon at all.

It would be nice to see her again, but I guess they'd rather focus on Bonnie and Jeremy. I came into this show late so the Bonnie character just confuses me. Does she have a family? I know she had a Grandmother but she's got to have some adult around somewhere. It just doesn't seem like there's any supervision there. She needs an older person to sort of mentor her, which her cousin would be good for. But I guess they just don't think it's important.

I kind of agree about Damon. He's not irredeemable, but it's just kind of one note and neverending with him at this point. His character is tiresome.

And who on EARTH would hide a moonstone in a decorative soap tin? What the hell was that? Lock it up.

Holy fucking shit, this show is unbelievable.

I figured Jenna was a goner, but since they made it so obvious that she'd die, I thought maybe she'd make it.  Elena begging her to turn her humanity off so she wouldn't be scared was heartbreaking.  Who the hell is gonna watch over those kids now?  I guess Alaric will adopt them or something.  John went out like a BOSS.  Very dignified death.   And Elena, my God, how much more can this girl endure?

What I want to know is how they explained the puncture wound on Jenna's chest to the cops/coroner. When Matt's sister died of supernatural causes, they got rid of her body and made it seem like she ran away. But Jenna had a legitimate burial, so what happened there? Are we to assume Bonnie made it so the wound disappeared and it looked like she died of natural causes?

Damon says at one point that he compelled the cemetery workers.  There were no cops, no coroner.  Jenna's going to be a missing person to anyone not in the know.

That episode should not have been the finale.  Last week's was MUCH better.  I was freaked when Jeremy died.  He'd just gotten sexy, and now they were gonna kill him?!  Glad he's sticking around, because goddamn that guy is great to look at.  Did you see his body in that shirt in the last scene?  Meow.   Elijah will be back, so I'm not concerned.  But I'm PISSED that Elena was so gung-ho to help Damon after what he did to her.  She should have been much more conflicted about it, but she just fell in line and was gooey-cooey like she almost always is with him.  Hell, the guy fucking BITES her and she just shrugs it off!  I know he's not in his right mind or whatever, but was fucking furious at that.  Now Stefan is gone, Damon is going to be softer to Elena, and Elena and Damon are going to start fucking and I'm going to be one very upset fan.  I'm just dreading the hell out of that.

Anna and Vickie back?  Cool, but not the jaw-dropper that last year's finale was.  I looked at the clock right when it cut to the final scene, and I was shocked that it said 8:58 because not much had gone down, at least to me.  Last year's finale was just BANG BANG BANG, and this one was more subdued.  I can't say that I was a huge fan of this episode.  It didn't feel like a finale at all.

ETA: How the fuck did Katherine get inside the Salvatore house to give Damon the cure?  They signed the deed over to Elena so that she got to control who could get in, and Kat wasn't invited in by Elena after she got control of the house.  Is that null and void since she died in the sacrifice?  Is it open season on that house so that anyone can stroll on in?  Wish they'd addressed that.
