Brightest Day

I haven't followed Darkest night at all.
But hey, Aquaman's back!
And they finally gave Martian Manhunter a pair of pants.

That's from yesterday's issue of Blackest Night. It was pretty obvious to me most of the main people they were going to resurrect, I guess max lord was the only surprise to me. Blackest Night was actually a decent event from DC, which I could actually follow (most of the time I guess)

Who's that over on the far right?

Osiris. The Captain Marvel Junior of the Black Adam family. Introduced (and killed) over the course of 52.
That would be Osiris, who became dinner to a crocodile in 52.

Funny. Didn't notice that little costume retcon on MM.

So anybody know what happened with Firestorm? He ejected both the current kid and the old one (Ronnie) right? So who is he now?

Well, the Matrix broke apart. I guess it's still Jason and Ronnie.

Dr. Stein and Firehawk are no longer a part of the matrix. Plus, zombie Dr. Light killed Gehenna...so that leaves just Jason and Ronnie.

The sixth guy (Jason's buddy) died in Infinite Crisis.

I would've liked to have seen something done with Sue and Ralph Dibny.

Still, it's cool to see that The Hawks have been fixed. Plus, I like what I think they're going to do with Deadman.

I think they kind of straight up said that 'Brightest Day' was going to be about why some people came back (Max Lord, Zoom, the original Captain Boomerang) and others didn't (Sue and Ralph). I'm going to assume it has something to do with how they died and whether or not they would choose to live again.

It was a bit foreboding when Martian Manhunter said "It appears so." They'd better not be Skrulls...

Having someone say "Dead is dead" is pretty fucking stupid though. Come on. As long as characters in comics die, they'll come back somehow. They don't need Nekron, just lazy writers.

In regards to Firestorm, I'm guessing ElCapitanAmerica was just confused by the art which made it seem like Firestorm was still there while Ronnie and Jason separated.

Aquaman was dead?

He became some kind of Davey Jones looking mother fucker and then got killed. It was all quite ridiculous.

More ridiculous, this is going to be attempt 3936480th at making Aqua man cool for the average comics fan (I actually like the character, and several of his runs have featured good story lines; hell, loved Morrison's take on him)
Was thinking of skipping Brightest Day, but the idea of a weekly series following the resurrected characters intrigues me.
Rather liked the choices for resurrection, except for Hawk, since I was hoping for the new Hawk and Dove to stick for a while longer (Im betting this is a "making it up for "Armageddon/Captain Atom reveal" Geoff Johns geekery).

I was trying to keep up with Blackest Night, and I enjoyed it. I was one of the suckers that followed 52, so I'm kind of annoyed that yet another weekly "event" is starting. Maybe I'll just wait for the compilation books.

Well...its only bi-weekly or bi-monthly, however you want to interpret the term.

52 was decent to pretty good.

Countdown was a shit sandwich that Paul Dini left behind a radiator.

That picture could be the promo material for a superhero team comprised of a bunch of motherfuckers who can't carry their own books. Also, Jade's breasts are way too modest, women in superhero comics shouldn't have anything below a D-cup, it's in the CCA, look that shit up.

So in issue one, Aquaman summons a zombie shark to leap out of the water and devour a pedophiliac pirate. Other stuff happened too, but this was the most important moment.
