I'll be seeing them in the summer. I've missed Wolf Parade twice now. And every assorted Wolf Parade side-project that's played in my city as well.

I saw them perform a short set in a parking lot once. They were amazing. And I'm excited about a new album. Their last one grew on me quite a bit. Not as great as their first, but they're still one of my favorite new bands.

It's hard to beat that first album. I go back to it pretty consistently and it just gets better and better. I like At Mt. Zoomer, though I haven't listened to it nearly as much. I too missed them when they came through my town, and now it looks like they're not even coming anywhere near me, so I'll miss them again.

At Mt. Zoomer kinda disappeared for me. Maybe I'll make the effort of going, but I have a lot of shows this year so far. But Le National is a great venue.

I was at the Halifax show last Saturday and it was amazing. They played a lot of newer stuff and it was easily on par with their older material (hopefully it sounds just as good on CD as it does live). My only complaint with the show was that they didn't play 'Dinner Bells,' but I guess that's my fault for liking their slowest song.

Thanks to MrMushnik's post, I've been listening to Apologies to the Queen Mary again and again. He's so right. Sounds better than it ever has.

Two songs from the new album (due out on June 29th), 'Ghost Pressure' and 'What Did My Lover Say?':

Bam.

More meat on the guitars this time around, but I'm not amazed or anything. Hopefully growers.

Tracklisting:

01 Cloud Shadow on the Mountain
02 Palm Road
03 What Did My Lover Say? (It Always Had to Go This Way)
04 Little Golden Age
05 In the Direction of the Moon
06 Ghost Pressure
07 Pobody's Nerfect
08 Two Men in New Tuxedos
09 Oh You, Old Thing
10 Yulia
11 Cave-o-Sapien

Album cover (sooooo much better than the cover art for At Mount Zoomer):

Take a cat. Burn it. Eat it. Shit it. The result is better than the Zoomer cover.

Leaked.

Dan Boeckner is once again the MVP. His songwriting is improving album to album, and his work in Handsome Furs has only fine-tuned his focus.

'Palm Road', 'Pobody's Nerfect', and 'Yulia' are making me droooool.

How is it compared to the other albums?

It's no Apologies (don't think they'll ever top that album in terms of freshness and amazement). More like a mix of the first two albums. It has the bounciness and fluffiness of Apologies meshed with Zoomer's sparseness and quirkiness.

That said, I loved At Mount Zoomer. Those that didn't will probably find the new album as somewhat of a comeback.

I found out I don't care about Wolf Parade anymore. I still like Apologies, but the rest ai't doing shit for me....

I'm pretty mixed on the new disc. Don't hate it, don't love it.

Same here, but I felt the same about Zoomer.

I really, really love Zoomer. The new album seems like an apology (no pun intended!) to those that didn't. But that magic that was there in spades with their debut is terribly gone for the most part.

I think this is a band that already reached their peak and likely don't have much of anything to say. Much of the new material just drones on forward.

First impression is that I really like the new one. I think you guys should give it a few more listens. It feels a lot more like a band effort than Zoomer did.
