Advice on a home theater setup

Hey fellas got my tax check and have been looking into getting a home theater.

Already have a PS3, X-box and 55" LCD LED Vizio.

Was looking at these two items but was wondering which was the better way to go or something better for the money (under 800 would be great).

Generally, I recommend buying home theater equipment seperately over the all-in-one solutions. That said, if you buy your receiver and your speakers separately, most of your budget should go to the speakers. The Pioneer will basically be a really expensive video switcher until you get speakers to go with it. Also, I tend to avoid THX receivers. Not because they're bad, but because the manufacturer pays a ton of licensing money to get that product "THX certified," and they pass that cost along to the consumer.

Unless you eventually spend a couple of grand on your speakers, look to spend between $300–400 for the best bang-for-your-buck HT receivers.

As far as all-in-one systems go, I like Onkyo, and their receivers are generally great. Unless you have a really large space, there isn't much benefit in getting a 7.1 system. If that's the case, you'd be better off with a better quality (or same quality, but cheaper) 5.1 setup.
