Video Game Consoles you have owned. - Page 3

I've never gotten rid of a system so I still own all these and they all still work. They're not in any order, but a lot of the obscure ones I bought used so I didn't pay full "new" price. I didn't buy them recently though. I've had all but one of the older systems for many years.

"new in box" NES (more on that later)
top loading NES
SNES
Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Sega Game Gear
Sega Nomad (with AC adapter)
Neo Geo Pocket
Sega Saturn
Dreamcast
Panasonic 3DO
JVC X'Eye
PS1
PS2
Gamecube
Xbox
Game Boy Advance
Game Boy Advance SP
Nintendo DS
Nintendo DS Lite
PS3
Wii

The "new in box" NES I mentioned is from when I worked at a game store years ago. A kid came in and wanted to trade in his NES. His grandpa was with him and said it should work as the kid took good care of it. I think the kid must've been OCD or something because it was like new. It was still in the original box. The wires & controllers were in original plastic bags with original twist ties on them. I set it up to test it and it worked perfectly. I didn't even have to blow in it to make it work! It was like getting a brand new system 15 years after the system came out. The grandpa swore that the kid did play with it, but he was just really carful with it. The kid traded it in, and I bought it myself immediatly.

All the old systems listed I've had for years except for the X'Eye. I bought that recently off a guy who was cleaning out some of his old collection. For those who don't know, it's one unit that plays both Genesis and Sega CD games.

These are also a few games I own that I don't think are very common any more. I have many more games of course, but they are more common.

Shenmue 2 on Dreamcast (European version with converter disk)
Earthbound on SNES
Suikoden 2 on PS1
Lunar 1 & 2 on PS1 (the big boxes with all the extras)
Snatcher on Sega CD

Original Gameboy
Super Nintendo (Even have the Super Gameboy cartridge)
Playstation
Playstation 2
Gameboy Advance
Playstation 3

This is the order I got them in, and I still have all of them, and in working order. Although the only one I really use is the PS3, since it's the latest one.

I didn't own one, but I got to borrow my friend's Vectrex for several months and played the hell out of it. I'd love to have one now.

N64

I also am the proud owner of a PS1 with no memory card so I've never bothered using it. A friend gave it to me.

I love the fact that TV Games (or whomever they are) brought back that style of plug-and-play vintage gaming. My nephew LOVES that shit. I have a Space Ace DVD, but that's too hard for me, let alone him.

ETA: Awesome.

I'll bite, for the hell of it.

NES
Genesis
N64
Gamecube
Xbox 360

It's worth noting that I went through two heavy PC gaming periods, pre and post n64 (94-97, 99-02 or so.)

I also still have an original Xbox in my possession, which technically belongs to a friend. I borrowed it to play KOTOR, and since he barely touched the thing save for Halo matches, he never really wanted it back. The location of the matches just got moved to my place.

My family had an Atari 2600 and later an Amstrad CPC 464, (reasonably popular in the UK at the time and huge in Europe as I understand), but these are the ones that I consider mine:

Sega Megadrive - Bundled with Sonic 1, I put some of my own money towards this otherwise I would've ended up with a Mastersystem.
Playstation 1 - Saved for months to get one after witnessing Wipeout 2097 at a friends house.
Gamecube - Play a lot of Super Monkeyball and not a lot else.
N64 - 2nd hand and never got a lot of use aside from Blast Corps.
GBA SP - Bought 2nd hand to take on holiday. Loved me some Warioware that trip.
Dreamcast - 2nd hand, never got a lot of use outside of Rez, Daytona and Zerogunner 2.
Xbox - Bought 2nd hand and immediately had it modded with Xbox Media Centre and an oversized HDD. The drive later died so the original went back in and it's still going today. Lot's of great, cheap games to pick up.
Xbox 360 - Would have gotten a Wii but for the longest time they were like goldust in the UK. Hence picked a 360 with Crackdown, Rainbox 6 Vegas and Viva Pinata and never looked back. Tied with the Megadrive and Playstation for most played console and probably my favourite if I'm honest. Three years old and still on box number 1.
Nintendo DS - Bought on day of release but my Mum played on it more than me, (Curse you Dr Kawashima!), hence gave it to her as a gift. It broke recently and she picked up a DSi to replace it, proud moment.

486DX4-100 with extended memory boot.

Any chance I get I'll reminisce about MechWarrior 2, Syndicate, Crusader, Wing Commander 1-3, Strike Commander, Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet, SimCity2000, Fallout (with the overclock hack) . . .

Ah yeah, that was the greatest machine of all time.
Simcity 2000 and Wing Commander are some of the best games to date.

Oddly, Gens was unresponsive to my analog pad, so I had to use Fusion instead. It's great. Any particular website you guys use for finding old-school emulators?

Oh jeez, let's see...

Pong
Magnavox Odyssey (Nobody's heard of that these days, but it was one of the first full-color consoles)
NES
Super NES
Playstation

I owned all four of these simultaneously:
Dreamcast
Xbox
Gamecube
Playstation 2

XBox 360
Wii (it makes a nice paperweight)

Note that I skipped the N64. That's because it was a piece of crap. Nintendo is still suffering the aftershocks of that design decision.

In the handheld department, I've owned a Gameboy Advance and a DS. After that, I realized that I needed to stop buying those, as I play them for three weeks and then ignore them.

It was sad to see the Dreamcast go so young. That thing was ahead of its time; Internet access, web browser, voice control. And the controller is still one of my all-time favorites.

Greg David, Wii a...Paperweight? Tatsunoko vs Capcom is the best...fighting game on any system. It is...My, Favorite game of 2010. Data East Arcade Collection is equally Awesome. It is worth the...$20 for Bad Dudes Vs Dragon Ninja, and Heavy Barrell alone. I recommend the classic controller, now replaced by...The Classic Controller Pro. Definitely, The Wii is a force to be reckoned with. One of my friends had an...Odyssey II. Did you ever play...Intellivision? I had that and when it broke...Intellivision II.

Not to make you feel worse about that thing, but I hadn't heard of it until I went to the National Center for the History of Electronic Games exhibit at the local museum.

It was next to a Wonderswan.

Look, I miss home enough as is. Don't make me feel worse.

(I've seen friends' photos. Jealous doesn't quite cut it.)

Ones I actually owned:

Top-Loading NES (1993)
SNES (1994)
Playstation (1998)
N64 (1999)
Playstation 2 (2002)
Xbox 360 (2008)

Though I didn't actually own one, I got to play an NES pretty much from birth on because my grandmother had one (WTF?) and I was at her house often. My roomate from 2006-2009 had a Wii, so I pretty much had one for three years straight. As far as handhelds go, I owned a Game Boy Pocket, Color and SP. Not really into them.

I'll spare you, Jim, but yeah, that exhibit was every bit as awesome as it looked.

Simple as it may have been, there was such the weird sense of awe getting to play the very first Pong cabinet ever built.

As long as Strong still has it at Christmas time, I'll get my chance to play around.

They might, but in talking to a few of the people in charge of the exhibit, they said the main goal is to have a major wing put in exclusively for the history of gaming. Don't know if they'll do a small scale playable exhibit again or they'll hold out for that.

Awesome.

The one at the National Media Museum in Bradford was just a couple of consoles, a few playable (Pong was much harder than I thought it would be), a few under glass. But it was free so it was okay.
