To be finally released in the USA, it seems.

Never been into erotic comics, but Manara is one hell of an artist and I im kinda curious how his style would play into superheroics, so Im interested in this; anyone else interested too?

Wow.

Oh...and along the way there's romance, pirates, severed heads galore, action-adventure and a magnificent sequence where Rogue discovers a skill for being a den mother/babysitter and doing lots of ironing. And Betsy discovers that she has a knack for feeding pigs."
So the female characters spend a bunch of the book "starkers," lose their powers, and find out that they really like performing domestic duties.

If it weren't for the first part, I'd have assumed that the GOP bought out Marvel. With the first part in mind, though, I'd guess that they're just appealing to a core audience of insecure men-children. Which is so much better.

Manara's works are nothing like that, actually...but i can see the worries over Claremont's story, though.
I think its just cheesecake, pure and simple (hopefully); no need to go all "its t&A and demeaning to women and etc" on it.
I wouldnt be defending it if it were "drawn" by Greg Horn or Greg Land; or Frank Cho, though.

CBR is not responding to me right now so I can't comment on the actual story, but the art sample above looks great. Reminds me a bit of Frank Quietly.

Quite. Instead let's discuss the taint-shot of Psylocke grappling with the big phallic cannon.

You know, the only Manara I've ever read is the Borgia: Blood for the Pope stuff he did with Jodorowsky and I had a lot of fun with that, but up till now I've never even heard of this and cant say I'm all that intrigued. Now if it was Jodorowsky on the script...

Id murder for a Jodorowsky/Moebius Dr Strange or Eternals series myself.

Wait...the objectification of women...in a superhero comic??? The devil you say!

I have no firm proof of this, but I believe that Psylocke was invented expressly for taint shots. She's like the Power Girl of taintsploitation.

People always throw around words like "cheesecake" and "objectify" and "taintsploitation" as if those are automatically bad things.

No one throws around words like taintsploitation™ without a call from my attorney.

I like that your theory only came to work when they made her Asian and a Ninja (WTF?); before thatm she wore a rather formal costume.

"Something is not working about this character, something just isn't right. Yep, that's it, needs more taint."

"Well then we'll have to make her Asian and a ninja."

"Whatever it takes."

You forgot:

"Sir, this isnt working....our artists arent taint talented enough!"

"Get me Jim Lee...you'll all taint me later."

And people complain about Emma Frost's costume...at least she had the decor not to go around flaunting taint all day.

Okay, enough taint.
