Trailer premiere in NYC- http://chud.com/articles/articles/23...NYC/Page1.html

I'm ready for another one of these... especially for consoles.

That's the definition of a teaser. And yes, that's gameplay.

The real question: will it be enough to convince me to buy a DX11 card?

I haven't seen any DX11 games or demos that make me want to run out and buy anything new yet.

Yeah, that's why I'm glad it's hitting consoles. My PC ran Crysis just fine but I ain't upgrading anytime soon. We'll see what the specs are though...
Well if it's coming out on consoles I guess I'll stop calling it PC-wank.

How gracious of you, Cassady
I just hope that with it being on consoles the US gaming press will bother giving it a chance instead of fawning over inferior FPSs.

Least I could do.

As Crysis was pretty much displayed at every single game event on the eastern seaboard prior to release, I got to play a bunch. I never saw the appeal, other than the holy shit speed and graphics.

Thing I have learned today: I have the exact same reaction to Crysis news that I have whenever Katy Perry speaks.

I wonder just how horrible the driving/piloting section will be....the explosion of your vehicle will be glorious, though.

Seeing as how I just purchased and started playing Crysis yesterday, this trailer excites me.
Yeah, Crysis has flaws, but it's really good.
As soon as I get a new PC, I'm geting the 1st game. And the 2nd. And MW2.

And Richard K. Morgan is writing Crysis 2?

OH FUCK YEAH!*

*Any self respecting geek will have read Altered Carbon, a classic. And Morgan sure can write wartime sci-fi well, judging by it's sequels. That trailer hyped me up, but Morgan seals the deal.
I'm going to give you the same advice I give everyone just starting Crysis. Don't play it as a regular FPS, you will be disappointed. Go nuts with the suit powers and you'll have the time of your life. Trap enemies in buildings and collapse them on their heads, tranquilize them pile their bodies on top of each other and blow them up all at once. be creative and you will be rewarded.

And as for writers, yes that was a nice surprise. Add to that the fact that he also said that Graham Joyce is writing Doom 4.

Knowing that I'd only be playing this on the PC, I passed on the 360 demo, so I'm only just now trying it out. Besides some insanely bloomy bloom effects, this game looks even better than Crysis. The suit modes make transitioning between camo-predator and armored tank seamless and fun, and pouncing down with the jump attack kinda rules. I'm having a blast with this so far.

Is anyone else giving this a go?

Fuck Gamespy. Fuck Gamespy up the ass. It's the only system that gives me any trouble. Tried to play a game for 45 minutes yesterday but it either pointed to full servers or send me into a lobby that would get stuck. This is the very definition of half-assign it. And the lack of graphics options, bunched up FOV and copious amounts of vaseline smeared on the screen aren't doing it any favors. But I'm more interested in the single player anyway so I remain cautiously optimistic.

Gamespy servers suck. Smackdown vs. Raw has always been a lagfest online. I have no idea how I used to play those games so much online. Matches dropped constantly, and there were tons and I mean tons of glitches everywhere. If THQ wants Homefront to be a hit online competitor, than they will get differant servers because FPS gamers will just crawl back to the reliable series. Same for Crysis 2, although I'm not getting Crysis2 and Homefront for online play. Campagn FTW

Really enjoying the single-player campaign so far. Nothing earth-shattering, but definitely fun. And gorgeous.

Dammit how is everybody playing games on a Tuesday morning

I liked the multiplayer demo, and I've heard great things about the full multiplayer package so far. Really excited.

I keep hearing that Crysis 2 has: the best graphics of any console game.

the best AI of any shooter.

Please confirm or deny!

Crysis 2 is gorgeous! The visuals are absolutely stunning, and the AI is good but nothing extremely differant from good AI in other games. I think Killzone 3 has it beat as far as best console graphics goes, but it's very close. Nothing else out there can compete with these 2 games as far as visuals go.

The hyperbole's been running fast and thick, and I wouldn't know about the console version, but it's been a fine experience on the pc so far. I haven't noticed any particularly clever AI, certainly nothing much above Crysis or Crysis: Warhead. It's definitley been streamlined for consoles in all respects. There are only 3 graphic levels to choose from for the pc, no tweaking of settings at all, so that's kind of a bummer. And it's also more linear than its predecessors.

Fucking what?  I didn't buy a new goddamn computer so I COULDN'T do my best to break it with 32x anit aliasing.  What horseshit.  Skyrim better let me run things at 3 FPS!

There are all sorts of console commands around the net if you want customize it a bit more. I still don't know what they were thinking excluding graphics options, though.

There's allegedly a directx 11 patch in the works that'll add advanced features. As much as I miss all the tweaking, I will say they've done a remarkable job with what they've got. I bet it does look amazing on consoles. Eh, I've always got Metro 2033 if I want to bring my rig to its knees.

This is a fun time but I always feel like I'm playing this game wrong. I'm stealthing it up at every opportunity. I kill a guy then pop behind cover and wait for my energy to pop back up before turning on the stealth again. Multiply that a bunch and that's how I've been getting through the game.

A silenced shotgun is awesome though.

I do that a lot too, but I combine it with the occasional sniping from an 'observe' point, or ripping one of those big-ass machine guns off its mount and just going to town. But even in the stealth mode, it's easy to get surprised occasionally and forced out of that comfort zone.

I'm finding the AI quite stupid, actually. I've seen three soldiers blow themselves up with grenades.

Yeah, the IGN review mentions that, the way that sometimes the AI is pretty clever and dangerous and the next minute they're running into each other like the Three Stooges.

Screw it. Misgivings or not I'm buying this. It's been ages since I've had a game even come close to giving my PC even some moderate exercise.

Minor rant time. There is already a utility out for those who want to mess with the graphics options and not have to go to console commands.

It took some random guy on the internet less than 24 fucking hours to put it out. Was Crytek making something like that available themselves that big of a deal? Seriously. I wonder what the hell was their thought process regarding that.

Thankfully though, they turned it into Halo rather than Call Of Duty. So that's a plus.

Strangely, I can't find an emoticon to convey my feelings on this.

It's a case of the lesser of two evils. I like Halo's design much more than COD's.

They weren't going to keep the open design of the first one. Consoles don't have the amount of RAM to handle levels of that size and graphical complexity.

I believe I'm on the last level of a good length single player campaign & I'm just loving the game. Really love stabbing the squids just below the chin & watching them leak to death. I recall Far Cry 1 being this addictive as well. As far as graphics go, for the 360 this game looks ace. I still don't think it looks as good as Killzone on the ps3 but as far as multiplatform goes, it's good.

I like the fact that even though they've scaled the down the overall size of levels, the core experience (comparisons from far cry, Never got a chance to play crysis 1 properly) and gameplay options are still in place. I've been replaying certain sections, trying different tactics (they call me stealth boy) and with the level design there's just so many different routes to take with even just the stealth option.

Biggest let down so far: A.I just isn't as good as the A.I this developer put out for the PC five years ago. Shame.

Supposed to be a dx11 patch today for the pc.

EDIT: My bad, it was just a rumor that had allegedly been "confirmed".

I'm 75% through it and I'm enjoying myself a lot. Seeing the back and forth that happened in this game's design in order for them to reacha bigger audience is really interesting. It's getting all kinds of reactions from me. From unreserved love, to hate, to bewilderment, to grudging acceptance.

I love the graphics after a bit of tinkering. Although it's not at the same level as the original Crysis was when it came out it's quite easily the best looking game today. Not by as much as a Crytek game should be, though. And it definitely won't have the staying power the original had at the top of the eye candy scale.

I hate the suit upgrades. They're quite useless especially in single player. I have to admit that I haven't got enough nanos to get the top tier abilities yet but everything up to that is crap. The time spent implementing this would have been more productively spent by the programmers for ball-scratching.

I'm bewildered at how trivial some of the things Crytek cut from the PC version of the game were. I already said how odd it felt not having any graphics options in the menus when it took some random guy on the internet less than 24 hours to come up with a tool. It would literally have taken them a fraction of the time it took for them to design the stupid suit upgrade menus.

Finally while I accept the choices they had to make to accomodate the current FPS console market with the level design, being able to easily get from one end of a level to the other in a couple of minutes seems downright claustophobic for Crysis. But even though it's Crysis Lite it's still fun and the best FPS I've played in years.

Picked this up today. Definitely looking forward to giving it a run tomorrow!

And I'm done. Damn that was an easy final fight, even on Veteran. The trash before it was much more difficult.

I can't wait for the DX11 patch. These last few levels are going to look stupendous with all the bells and whistles turned on.

Just finished the 360 version today.  Overall I really enjoyed the game, but I have this love/hate relationship with it. The suit upgrades could've been cool, but I found myself just saving up to get the faster regen and longer stealth. Once I had the stealth upgrade, I kinda felt that I was playing the game "wrong". By the end I'd often just evade the Ceph altogether, rather than risk blowing my cover. In fact on the last level, the only things I killed were the 4 stealth Ceph. And I was fortunate to find a vantage point they couldn't reach, so they just scurried around beneath me while I weakened them with grenades before finishing them off.

I think if the suit upgrades had been done better, the game would've been more like Deus Ex, where I've created a stealth character. With Crysis 2, it felt like I was this tank that was just hiding because it was easier to avoid the enemy than fight them and have them call in backup. But I don't know if that's fair to the game since it maybe has more to do with my disinterest in killing "alien" characters. My favorite parts of the game were when I fought soldiers. In general, I'm not as interested in killing monster-like-aliens, but that's just a personal preference thing.

I was ready to give up on the game the first time I came across the little bug-like Ceph-cleaning things.  Thankfully they mind their own business, but when I first saw them I just pictured myself having to shotgun through endless waves of them.

I wish I could've played this on the PC (my preferred platform for FPSs), but until I get a new rig, that won't be happening. The first Crysis was the first game to bring my PC to it's knees, but I've managed to hold off on upgrading so far. I'll definitely re-visit it there if I get a new PC in the next year or so.
