He didn't know he was dying when he recorded that! (Well, you could argue that he probably knew in a spiritual sense, because the album just before that is LIFE'LL KILL YA*, which is probably in my top three Zevon albums. Confession: I don't really love THE WIND like I should.)
I should really stop fucking around on the internet and write the Zevon musical biography I've been fucking around with for, oh, almost a decade.
*The title song has another great opening verse: "You've got an invalid haircut/And it hurts when you smile/Better get out of town/Before your nickname expires/It's the kingdom of the spiders/It's the empire of the ants/You need a permit to walk around downtown/You need a licence to dance."
Getting back on topic, I was super happy they chose "The Indifference of Heaven" for that list.
