Although it would be quite cool to fly near the ash, if not in it.

Now Holland and Belgium have shut down their airspace.

I've gotten caught up in this one. Brilliant excuse to dodge the party i was returning early for. Fingers crossed on it going for the morning though. I can only spend so many days in Belfast before thinking of suicide.

Also over in Simon Pegg's twitter..

"I knew there was no way John Cusack could have got away from that volcano in a plane. We're hundreds of miles away and everyone's grounded."

Apparently its still erupting, so who knows when planes will be back in the air. My rebooked flight for early tomorrow morning has been cancelled, so having to hope that tomorrow evenings flight will get the go ahead. Im not hopeful. The idea of getting the ferry has become tempting.

By the end of this i am determined to learn how to pronounce the glacier that its come from.. Eyjafjallajoekull great name!

My sister is stuck in Glasgow Airport waiting for the airpsace to clear up, they're saying to call back at 7am tomorrow to see if flights are back on. The whinging in airports across the nation must have reached critical mass by now. For a non-holiday maker it's pretty goddamn cool, though.

My mum's stuck in amsterdam after her KLM connection back to the UK was cancelled, rather than get high as fuck for a few days, she's booked herself a ferry to Hull. Mums eh?

All the ferry's are booked up now til Saturday. My third visit to the airport in the space of 20 hours was to book a new flight, from my already rebooked flight. The volcano is still erupting so that can't be a good thing for people needing to get out.

This sucks. Why couldn't the damn volcano erupt last week, when I was still on holiday in Portugal?

So after 7 back and forths to the airport i have finaly been able to get... a ferry crossing. Its been alot of bother, even the ferry's have been jam packed. Lots of queuing that didn't end well for some.

The bbc is reporting that Dutch and German airlines have been testing planes at the altitude that is meant to be the no fly zone area. They have tested fine and are angry that the organisation that is banning flights isn't taking it into consideration.

I am personally 50/50 on this, i can understand them wanting everyone to be safe, but there has also been no crashes or proper problems with the ash. In the past planes who have hit an ash cloud from a volcano and had problems with their engines have merely went below the ash cloud and had the air cleared with no bad results.

anyway here is a link to airlines wanting this all reviewed.

UK MET office reports that the ash cloud will reach the US east coast by 1pm ET time today. Devin might be stuck in Asheville!

Shit, once the cloud hits US airspace it'll only be a matter of hours until Iceland is declared a terrorist base and gets invaded / nuked.

Also, it'll force the myopic US news media to talk about the problem as if it's something specifically sent to disrupt their lifestyle.

I'm surprised that people aren't given the option of signing their life away and going for it.

Also - I heard that the way the cloud is at altitude it'll soon be scattered all over the world causing either a greenhouse warming or ice age cooling, eitherway it spells doom for a nice sunny summer...
