Marvel vs Capcom 3 - Page 3

Oh. You. BASTARDS.

12 more characters. And you just know they're gonna beef this the fuck up, feature-wise, like they did for Super SF 4.

While awesome, fucking hell Capcom, how have you not figured out how to just do this shit as DLC?

Funny.  I just got to play the game for the first time on my friend's PS3.  The game is just too fast and crazy for me.  Jeez...

Not doing it as DLC is mean.

Justin Clark, mcnooj82, This Marvel Vs Capcom 3, will be...The Ultimate MVC3, at least until the...Ultimate MVC3: The Arcade Edition.  Street Fighter IV, has both a...Super, and Arcade Edition, so why not?  This is just...All Kinds Of Awesome News!  I am so glad there isn't anymore...DLC.  I do not have the online service, and have...No plans to add this, so...UMVC3, is just...Awe-Inspiringly Great news!  I...Love the new additions!  This game will be...MARVELous, and will of course be the...Best Game Of 2011!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm still buying the shit out of it, especially if they do it like Super SF IV, and offer it cheap right out of the gate. But guys like Rockstar and Bioware figured out how to not make the day-one-purchase gamers not feel like assholes long ago. Capcom should be better than that by now.

So, the rest of the new characters:

Dr. Strange

Frank West

Iron Fist

Nemesis

Nova

Phoenix Wright

Vergil

Rocket Raccoon

Thats.....kinda disappointing, actually.

While having Nova and Rocket Racoon is awesome, Vergil and Frank West arent my cup of tea; I would had been much happier with Megaman (from the Legends series, to match Tron) and Captain Commando or  even a Servbot.

On the Marvel side, Im pretty good with the choices, but no Squirrel Girl? That would had been awesome.

Yep, not falling for this.  I don't care about Megaman being in the game, but seeing as how Megaman X is the the most requested character, and they have no real reason to not put him in, and seeing as how they already had a Doc Ock character worked on, and he's not here, there's totally going to be a third version of this game coming out.   They got me on the first version of this game, well done, but I'm waiting this one out.

Ultimate MvC is $40. I got $30 for the original edtion, so this is almost paid for.

Iron Fist, Strider, and Nova, are the...Ultimate reason to purchase the new update to MVC3.  It is also EcCapcomnomical to do so!  It will definitely be even more...MARVELous then MVC3!  After that what could be next?  Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Arcade Edition?

Yeah, I concur.  Way to punish the people who actually buy your game Capcom.  I hate to say it, but Mortal Kombat figured that shit out.

Well I guess Capcom was originally going to do the upgrade as DLC, but the plan changed as a result of the earthquake and tsunami. Good to hear DLC for Ultimate is planned, barring any additional natural disasters, I guess.

Thought the Dr. Strange and Nemesis gameplay stuff looked pretty neat, saw it on youtube.  What I really want to see is how Nova will play.  They have the chance to do something unique with Nova, we'll see if they waste it or not.

Any chewers still playing this game online?  I was aiming to get on later in the day if anyone's game.  ReddfoxxDVDA is my gamertag.

I gotta say, at least on the xbox, capcom upped the online netcode a shit ton.  We played a ton of matches pretty much lagless with Ultimate last night, with a full spectator mode lobby.  It was so lagless I basically had to relearn even the combos that didn't get changed for ultimate due to how fast things were moving compared to before.  The new characters are all super fun so far as well, and all the changes to the old characters has made it fun learning new combos for them as well.

Any chewers get this?  We should get a lobby going now that we can actually watch the matches.

Ron Vogel, I did get...Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, but I do...Not, play online!  I can see watching a match in an arcade with a bunch of people, but otherwise it doesn't sound so interesting, as I would rather...Play than watch the game.

I didn't get the original release so it looks like I'll be up for Ultimate. It looks crazier that MvC 2. My kids love the Marvel superheroes (and love the trailers for the game) but it looks so crazy that I don't know how well they'll be able to follow the action.

While it is crazy in it's own way (X-factor craziness for the most part), I think it's actually a bit more grounded than MVC2, and I mean that in a really good way.  In MVC2 if you weren't flying and super jumping and throwing out moves to build meter constantly and putting a ton of stuff on the screen, it was pretty hard to win at a high level.  A good ground game definitely works quite a bit better in 3.  Ultimate so far also seems a lot more balanced in general than regular MVC3, though it is a bit early.

I think your kids will be ok.  Capcom has set up quite a few mechanics/options that should make it easier for your kids to be somewhat competitive with the game despite being new to the series/genre.  They have simple mode that maps the different special move inputs to single buttons, and super move inputs to double button presses, and they've even added a new mechanic that's actually the default setting on ultimate (no idea why they made it default) that will auto-launch your opponent if you use the right button and let you autopilot your way into even an air combo if you've got simple mode on as well (for example in the air instead of hitting YYBA I think on simple mode you can just hit something like XXXX and it'll do the same thing).
