What are you having for dinner tonight?

COOKBOOK.png

I post this thread for two reasons

1) I want to discuss what I am having for dinner tonight, and thought that maybe others in the CHUD-munity(c) might enjoy a chance to do the same

2) I saw a thread similar to this one on another site and that thread was a great success. Why not try to replicate that here, on CHUD?

Tonight I am actually a bit uneasy about what will, in just over an hour, be hitting my plate

You see, for the first time since the year 2004 (when I was at the BOSTON 2004 DNC, actually!) I'm going to be eating DOMINOS PIZZA

I've avoided it this long because I remember it being sort of tasteless and if I'm going to eat pizza I might as well eat tasty pizza.

But tonight I've been hit by a strange confluence of events. You see, because my dad has to drive me home and because he's had a long day, it has become essential to keep the shopping when I get out of work to a minimum so I can head straight home and he can go to bed

This necessitates the purchase of "take out". But frankly I'm sick of the Chi-Coms and their chinese foods, and don't really want to pay for Indian. Plus, my mom has demanded a portion of whatever I get for take out which means that I definitely don't want to bank roll a tandoori chicken dinner for someone who wouldn't even buy me cotton candy on Monday

Anyway..

I'm going to be getting a take out Dominos pizza. I've been intrigued by their promise of a "new" taste. Has anyone else tried this? I'm probably only going to eat a few slices and then starve till tomorrow when there is food other than Dominos pizza, but all the same I'm curious if it could really have improved that much since 2004.

It still tastes like vomit don't worry

Whatever I end up eating, my deuce will likely be way less heinous than yours.

If you could just post a picture of the aftermath that would be cool

Just to clarify: by aftermath you mean an empty pizza box?

I also will return here (maybe tonight via cell, or maybe later via something else, depending on my inclinations) to report back on the quality and relative "new"ness of the pizza

EDIT: This is kind of exciting actually, it's become a little project

EDIT2: This is probably the best pizza in my area, it's amazing. It doesn't have sauce though so you have to be aware of that when you buy it (if you are really into sauce or something. You can ask for sauce but you have to remember to ask because otherwise you won't get any!)

I need to find a good pizza joint in my neighborhood. Yelp's kinda useless for this stuff since people started padding reviews.

And yes, please sign the box too that would be cool
post #9 of 514
What kind of pizza? Toppings? Size? Any wings or crazy bread?

Your posts are too vague, Kate. On this forum, we need details. Every detail.

My mom just bought me a package of colored sharpies so assuming I can find them all maybe I will do a full color illustration

And I never heard about YELP! before. I guess living in a small town means that you already know about all the businesses around you.

Well I'm on their website right now trying to figure that out. Since I'm going to be picking it up instead of getting delivery it looks like I could save alot of money by getting a large one topping.. but that seems like entirely more Dominos pizza than I can handle right now, even with help from my mom.

For future reference though, the following toppings are all things I enjoy on pizza:

PEPPERONI
ONIONS
MUSHROOMS
FRESH BASIL LEAVES
PESTO
(and sometimes OLIVES)

(And if I can get caramelized onions I'd take those over regular ones)

Since I am not a regular patron of the Dominos chain I can't say that I'm really that familiar with products like Crazy Bread and might need to play that part by ear.

EDIT: Plus, sundried tomatoes! Can't forget them

Why do you people indulge her?

And if she's posting a pic of the empty box how about the empty head that ate the pizza in the empty box?
It's easy for you to say. She showed up while I was gone, I never got a chance to mock her.

What the hell is a "Chi-Com"?

Is that like a Klingon?

There are Klingons in MA?
Those Dominos commercials are unintentionally hilarious, mostly because they are somehow shocked that their pizza is/was shit. I would probably try out their "new" pizza if they delivered here. Ironically Pizza Hut and Dominos won't deliver here because my apartments used to be housing projects, but incredibly expensive Papa Johns does. The point is, I would be willing to risk diarrhea for cheaper pizza delivery.

Returning as promised via cellular-telegram link in order to update you on my pizza

1) It is kind of under cooked (IMHO) and kind of soggy. It is not terrible but I am not sure if it tastes any different from frozen pizza either

2) the sauce is way too sweet. It's cloying. I don't understand people who need to pump up the sugar in tomato sauce to enjoy the taste. IMHO the tomato is a fantastic fruit and the flavor speaks for itself. Even if the crust were not mushy (as previously mentioned), the taste is more than overpowered by the sauce. I should have gotten more toppings in order to give it more flavor I guess..

I am not sure why I devided my comments into two numbered items, but there you go. I've eaten 1.5 slices and while I may power chew one or two more before the night is over, I think all in all this pizza was kind of a waste. You don't really "save" money if you don't lik the food you buy

Thats all from me for tonight, but I will return tomorrow with some pizza box art

Seriously, we're being fucked with. Want your proof? Name one other person who could start this thread and not have Devdre Faramorte flying in to condemn it.

What made you go for that over Andrin Dellamaci?

While yours is better, I think Devin pulls rank and gets his syllables first, yeah? Chief Editor's gotta be worth something.

I don't know why anyone would care but I had a Steak and Ale pie with Chedder Mash and spring vegtables.

Tonight I shall probably make something with the Chicken breast I have in the fridge, I'm thinking some kind of wrap.
I had spaghetti & meatballs last night, but I didn't care for the meatballs, so it was pretty much just the spaghetti.

The world is a better place for me sharing this.

3/4's of a bottle of Jameson's.

Yeah, that was kinda awful. But at least it's not a post mocking a dead dog!

I'm sorry to hear that the pizza wasn't that good, Kate. My boiled infant was incredible. Aged just right (nine months) in a sealed oak barrel. It had some fruity notes with a slight nutty overtones.

God bless this thread, and everyone in it.
I grilled up some ground turkey and put it in some whole grain wraps with lettuce, cheese, and El Yucateco habanero sauce. My insides burn.

Kate, I'm interested to see that autographed box as well. I'd autograph the plate I ate my dinner off of and post it, but unfortunately I have to keep using it

As promised, some pizza box art!

Didn't turn out quite the way I wanted but all things considered I think it's cool

PS The abbreviation is a play on the abbreviation I use for my blog party (PKUBP2KX) and in this instance it stands for my Ultimate Pizza Box 2010

PPS Chi Com is not an ethnic slur. It stands for Chinese Communists. Their political beliefs are being disparaged, not their ethnicity.

PPPS Dreary Louse, were you not hungry or just not feeling well? If it's the later you really should try to eat even if you're a bit under the weather. Proper nutrition is key for your immune system to be able to function at full strength

letting some hot italian sausage, rabe and whole wheat penne (and five big cloves of garlic) simmer in some white wine blend while I down the rest of aforementioned bottle of wine, which would be like 3/4 of the bottle. After I'm done drinking this, I'll eat the food, and simultaneously down another bottle, watching Layer Cake, b/c I've never seen it, and Kick Ass blew me. This is fun.

Maybe that would be true if directed at a politician, you directed it at the American owners of your local takeout joint, so that is absolutely an ethnic slur.

Kate has obviously experienced a recent flurry of mini-strokes.

This is why she is Princess Wiki. Always just a little off the mark with her abundant knowledge. Not to mention her tagline screams stroke.

Not only does that sound delicious, but LC is one of my favorite movies of 2004! I hope you enjoyed them

I will cook some pizza. If you wanna join me just PM.

I had sweet & sour chicken with rice, but someone knocked on the door and I set it down to answer and my Jack Russell managed to steal the rest.

So that's an update for me and him, but I ain't looking forward to dealing with that tomorrow on our walk.
