Honor Freedom

In the heyday of the Canadian political rag Frank, they used to have a section called "Polishing the Turd" about attempts to rehabilitate the image of one Brian Mulroney.

Lo, here comes the Honor Freedom organization to "Stand With President Bush and the Cause of Freedom".
Quote:
OUR MISSION IS TO:
1. UNITE BUSH SUPPORTERS by building a national network of chapters in all 50 states.
2. CORRECT THE HISTORICAL RECORD by dispelling fallacies about President Bush.
3. TEACH AMERICA the truth about the Bush foreign policy doctrine.
Here's Slate's take on it:
Quote:
Jeffrey Scott Shapiro talks about George W. Bush the way Buddhists talk about the Dalai Lama. "He stands for truth, compassion and freedom," he says. "Bush instinctively sees the global picture that every living person has the right to be free." It's hardly surprising, then, that Shapiro founded Honor Freedom, an organization devoted to restoring Bush's reputation. And Shapiro may actually succeed—especially since Bush, too, will be working on the same project, if not the same organization.
Just reading the name of the group brings this guy's voice to mind

Too hard to explain Nixon was meeting these guys.

I think W's legacy should stay the way it is. The Right needs its own Jimmy Carter....oh, I guess that would be Ford.
