Penn did not respond to requests for comment. The Metropolitan Police Department said it could not release information.

Hmmm... I'm not even getting the basest, petty gossip story pleasure from this. Unless there's some amazing detail left out, this is just a guy who had a shitty and frightening thing happen to him. Who happens to be a little famous, if you smoke weed or watch House re-runs. He didn't do anything wrong or make a fool of himself. What is so funny?

I don't think its funny, however, wandering around certain (most) parts of DC at 1 am without an armed guard is pretty dumb.

Exactly. Actually, most of (non-SE) DC is safer than just about every US city in terms of street crime.

For the federal buildings alone, just imagine the security.
