Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981)

Lily Tomlin is so amazing in this. I've been rewatching it over the last week or so. Great performances from Charles Grodin, Henry Gibson and Ned Beatty.

Still remains the only Joel Schumacher film that I really like.

Now, I've got to go get "Galaxy Glue" out of my head. For those that can remember its original theatrical release, was the picture quality always so soft?

I don't know about theatrical, but it looked that way the 9000 times I saw it on HBO back in the 80s.

Think so. Almost hazy.

"Concepcion! Concepcion!"

Yeah, I saw this in the theater and it was definately haze city. Even at that age, it was distinct enough to notice.

It's a great time capsule film. Easily worth a follow-up viewing just to take in the 'period' details. Not quite the nostalgia overload as HOW TO BEAT THE HIGH COST OF LIVING, but still pretty pure and unironic.

Yep. This movie was all soft focus in the theaters as well.

It's also a horrendously awful satire on 80's consumerism. I can't imagine anyone ever willingly watching it again.

Yeah, it was about as subtle as a strongly worded letter from Stanley Kramer.

But, I liked Tomlin and the music. Plus, Rick Baker as a gorilla always entertains.

Joel Schumacher Directed this?! Huh

I saw this on Showtime 20 times in the 80s's. Kind of fell in love with Tomlin and in lust with "Conception".

As for the satire, yeah its obvious, obviously funny!
