I saw this last night.. it was pretty sickening and disturbing, but unlike the HHE remake, it was not scary

I think it was overhyped, IMHO

I didn't find it sickening nor disturbing. I found it to be derivative and far more impressed with itself than I was as an audience watching it. It's filled with a pretentious air, even as it's basically slumming its way through a tired formula.

BTW... Alien connection, what was that about? Was bizarro world Mick Dundee working with aliens? Do the film makers even care about why the watch stopped??

And I found it repugnant and sickening, but in a crass and nasty way, not in a fun "I am so scared by these morally challenged retard mutants!" way like with THHE

All in all it just made me glad I am not Australian. It must be boring and lame to live there if WOLF CREEK is your biggest cultural export of the past five years

I rented this immediately after seeing "Not Quite Hollywood" because it was pretty much the only DVD at the video store that's referenced in the documentary. I don't remember much about the film beyond my not liking it. So take heart, Kate. You're likely to forget the whole thing by morning.

We'll always have Mad Max. You'll never take that away from us.

And YAHOO SERIOUS!!

Yeah sorry we can't get it happening to deliver such culturally relevant masterworks as GI Joe or Transormers 2, Kate! We are working on it though! Retard.
Anyway...boring, lame and weirdly pretentious movie. The director is as colourless and devoid of creativity as any "Artist" I have ever met, and I mean that as a genuine statement not a hyperbolic rant...he really is as dull as a dishrag. What makes this film suffer even more, for me, is the series of events this film was based on is so much more interesting than the film we got.
I remember John Jarret, who is a nice guy, getting really shitty, vocally, when he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for his performance in this. lol.

I am also glad you are not Australian, Kate. Really glad.

in the special features there's an interview with him and he gets asked what advice he had for his younger co-stars and his answer was something like. "It's not my job to teach them, I'm just going to do my thing and it's up to them to either keep up or be outclassed"

I was like are you kidding me guy? He was fucking terrible, probably the weakest link in a not amazing cast.

There was that one moment when he coldly looked at the backpacker across the fire when the brit(?) dude made a gaff and inadvertently called Jarret a dumbass that was a really, really good...nice chilling, shviery moment.
The rest of it he was just eh.
STFU Cynic.

No no, he's right. I was too harsh.

I am returning to this thread because I've since decided that my joke about Australia was

1) Not adequately labled as a joke

2) Mean spirited!

Australia seems like a cool place, and I've had friends who visited there. I even had a brief dream of moving there to start my life over as a surfer back when I was in highschool but that didn't pan out for a number of reasons (swimming aptitude and ability to keep my nose water free, along with no surf skills being the main culprits)

EDIT: I'd still like to hear why the watches stopped. Aliens?
