Buying DVDs/Blu-Rays of Movies You Don't Like - Page 2

This is the same reason why I own 'Blade Trinity', 'The Godfather Part III', several Star Trek films, and several Bond films.
This, to a degree, is why BLADE TRINITY is on the shelf next to the other two (far better) BLADE movies. Also, the making-of doco hinted it would be as comprehensive as the terrific one on BLADE 2.

I also have X-MEN: THE LAST STAND but have resisted the temptation to get SPIDER-MAN 3.

I think we all do.

If memory serves, it was one of the first DVDs to become dirt cheap, and most everyone I know picked it up.

Someone gave it to me, so I have it too. I tried to give it to someone else but they didn't want it. I tried to bring sell it back to a Used DVD shop, but they didn't want it either. I'd throw it away but I'd feel bad for the trash.

I had the same thought, so we must both be right. It dropped to around $6 or $7 right around the time that I made the unconscious decision to own a lot of DVDs. I probably said "Walken and Leary? OK."

I own THE SW PREQUELS, VAN HELSING, GODZILLA (US), Ang Lee's HULK, SPIDEY 3, and INDY 4. EDIT: on DVD

I feel like I need to revisit these disappointing travesties every few years and see what went wrong.

And I'm fully aware THE HULK is loved by a few round here.

I take more exception to you calling Spider-Man 3 a travesty, but c'est la vie.

I own THE QUICK AND THE DEAD on Blu-Ray. I've seen the film once in my life, when I was a kid, and liked it well enough but never thought about it again. Seeing it on Blu Ray I was struck by the fact it existed on Blu and stuff by Lynch didn't and sort of bought the thing ironically. I'll probably never watch the damn thing.

Buying movies in HD ironically. Awesome.

Fine, since people are finding all sorts of loopholes - what movie did you not like yet went out and bought the week of release, brand new, in HD? And why?

Ghostbusters 2. Not on HD, but I've got the DVD for some reason

Phil, prepare yourself for a list blu-ray's people bought for family and friends.

My other one is 28 Days Later. I <3 that film, and it's sequel, but reading online reviews told me that it was a waste of time buying on Blu due to the nature of the cinematography (the damn film was only shot in 720p). I still went and 'upgraded' and then wondered why it looked so god damn bad.

So, long story short, I might possibly end up doing what Devin mentioned in that one Devin's Advocate and going all-streaming. Not sure what to do with all the leftovers, but the idea of not having to cart boxes of DVDs everywhere when moving sounds kind of magnificent, especially since I don't really know when I'm going to need to watch Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man ever again. Thanks, drunk purchases!
I don't believe the first part of your story at all, Jake.

Second, the move to playing off of a portable hard drive was an awesome one. I recommend it highly.

I'm gonna Hijack this thread a second...FOR SCIENCE.

As a sidenote, can I ask how many of you guys inexplicably own a copy of 21 Grams?

Within my circle of friends everyone owns a copy of that damn film and none of us particularly like the film or can remember buying it.

I'm interested in finding out if this is a uniquely British phenomenon.

Ha! Not quite - my copy of 21 GRAMS is still unopened.

I got a copy shipped to me from a now defunct e-tailer for free by mistake. I've watched it twice. There's tits in it.

And Goldblum getting all over said nipples!

If my memory serves me right. I haven't seen the film since the one time I saw it at a free screening. Thought it was a pretty good film then. Never had the desire to revisit it.

Penn. Goldblum. Close enough.

I guess this wasn't the movie with the fly getting it on with Watts nipple?
Oh, maybe a fly lands on them, this movie's so fucking dull I can't remember.
