King Kong (1976) On AMC...again...and again...

Somebody get the AMC brass on the phone and tell them to STOP SHOWING THIS MOVIE! If you're going to call yourself "American Movie Classics," and you're going to show KONG, then it had freakin' BETTER be the original! Not this Jessica Lange-starring mealy-mouthed we're-so-clever airheaded travesty of a remake!

I know, Ted Turner probably owns the original. But I'd rather not see Kong than see THIS Kong.

Better Godzilla vs. King Kong than this.

I'm tempted to say "Worst Remake Ever" (in the Comic Store Guy voice) but, I'm sure there's even worse. At least it had an interesting opening scene, if I remember correctly. Like, first 3 or 4 minutes were going somewhere. Then the girl gets picked up and it just turns into crap. Ugh.

Can't believe AMC is stupid enough to show that movie. Alien Ressurection I can understand, but the 76 King Kong? Yikes.

Not only that, but they WON'T STOP SHOWING IT! Check out Girlcreeture's listings! It's on twice tomorrow, and has been on at least a half dozen times since the listings started!

The 1976 version is on Showtime constantly too. I'll bet its been on about three Saturdays in a row. It sure is making the rounds on the pay per view channels. That is the quality programming that I pay $12 a month for. Bad monkey!

Hey....you know that AMC isn't american movie classics anymore, right? It's a really stupid story, but they phazed out the old name in for AMC with those stupid ads with the "film buffs".

So AMC doesn't mean anything anymore. That's why they play Predator 2 and other crap all the time.

I dig this flick. Me love the Lange.

Actually, this one works better for me since Lange's character actually likes the beast, unlike Ray in the original, who hated him.

I have to respectfully and in all spirit of friendship and goodwill tell you that you're out of your frikkin' mind.

Lange is terrible in this movie. I mean godawful. Maybe she was directed that way, maybe it was just the way it came out, but ugh. And her "actually liking the beast" for me plays completely false. Sitting there in a giant gorilla's hand doing her "Oh, aren't you cute" lines instead of being terrified as any normal person would be--it just doesn't work for me.

But hey, you're certainly entitled to your own kooky, absolutely insane views.

PS--Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
