That's the trailer. Casey's talking about a little commercial clip that aired on BBC America with Amy and The Doctor talking to the camera in front of Monument Valley.

Oh, damn.. sorry about that!

Well I appreciated the trailer, as it didn't air in Canada.

That was definitely an Ood.

Watched this with a friend who had never seen an episode of Doctor Who before in her life; she had no idea what the hell was going on but loved it. Fantastic stuff.
Really? Because I thought that was the right amount goofiness for Who.

Also, it was nice seeing the Doctor in a fez again, however short it may have been.

I do love the fact that River's new purpose in life seems to be to ensure that the Doctor never wears a hat.

Oh it's totally in keeping with Doctor Who; I'm just 37 years old and that kind of thing makes me cringe, but the fact that Who can contain moments like that, and then serve up stuff like that truly amazing moment where the Doctor goes back in time and appears in the video playback he was just watching with Gambon's character is one of the reasons I fucking love this show so much. It's broader and contains more scope than just about anything, ever.

Loving the Tor series going on. Nice look back. And good for me, since I didn't get into Doctor Who until the recent reboot with the 9th Doctor.

The first two parts really underlined how sad it is that so many of those early episodes are gone.

Possibly having a stupid moment but what's "the Tor series"? Is it something Doctor Who-related on here that I might have missed, or a programme about the show itself?

This right here:

Ah yes. Many thanks.

I saw that link earlier but forgot to click on it. Now to have a look!

The Tor articles seem to have stalled annoyingly, just when it was entering the phase where I started to get into Doctor Who!
Not sure what you mean by stalled? They have been coming out every day, plus ancillary articles on music and fashion and crafts.

Bizarre, I checked when I last posted, and it was still showing the 3rd Doctor. All good now though. Wonder if my work firewall had cached the old page or something.

here is empire online's Dr who poster mash up - some are beautiful. "oodfellas" and "fez" are some of my favourites.

Bobby Bear's fantastic review of Season 5 of Doctor Who doesn't seem to have got much love. It's a great read and can be found here

She's a fan of the Coen Brothers and deep-fried Mars Bars. Was she genetically engineered to be my perfect woman or something?

Some of those posters are amazing. And yes, nicely done review. I think the new site layout's actually a bit hard on the DVD articles, burying them lower down as it does.

thanks for the link to the review, really good! I had no idea it existed - flippin' redesign!

Cute! Via Boingboing.

Great review. And I have to agree. Rory's turnaround was the big surprise of the season for me.

damn shame.

ETA: I just caught silence in the library / forest of the dead again. Fuck me Alex Kingston is great. She does so much with the character. Fucking great - I can't believe that people weren't totally on board from day 1.

Kind of old "news": Paul McGann is still going strong as the eighth Doctor in those audio dramas (which are way better than they have any right to be), and I guess he's been helping to come up with a new look for his Doctor for ads and album artwork and whatnot. But the point is that WETA made him a sonic screwdriver a while back, and it looks pretty cool. Came across this today: http://onceuponageek.com/2010/11/02/paul-mcgann-doctor-who-new-outfit/

Thought resident fans might get a kick out of that. I kind of want one.
