Offical Dawn of the Dead Trailer - Page 2

just saw the trailer

looks fine

Though they may have removed the zombie-dogs, the dog that is in the trailer looks like it will act as a 'Mule' for the survivors, if that thing it's wearing as it jumps is a doggy-coat full of pockets, like in the script...Pity about the zombie-dogs, though, one of the cooler things in the script was that a 'zombie-anything' would only attack a living member of its own species; one of the few additions I found refreshing!!

MUCH better than I was expecting (and I dig that song too.) It worked for me.

Also, if you go to a theatre that has more than 1 print of TCM, you'll have a chance of seeing it. The trailer came along with the print in the can and is set to play (along with that cool RE teaser) on the 2nd print of TCM.

The trailer looked great. It feels so good to see the words 'DAWN OF THE DEAD' on the big screen. As good as TCM was I have high hopes for this remake now. The studios have heard and they have listened, finally thank GOD. The Resident Evil trailer still looks great!

The Butterfly Effect was also on there and looked pretty stupid.

Doc did you hear Bruce Campbell is supposed to be downtown at a theatre for the first showing of Bubba Ho-Tep tonight? If I didn't have to get up at 4am for work I would have gone downtown to see that instead of TCM.

Is there anyway to see the trailer that's not on the Apple site? Everytime I go there it just freezes up my computer.

And I NEED to see this!

Now, maybe the remake poo-poo heads will finally stop griping. EVERY film deserves its day in court.

Judging from the .5 seconds he appears in the trailer, Tom Savini plays Officer "Tom Savini".
P.S. I haven't sounded off on my opinion, but I think the flick looks great. I just recently got into the "Dead" trilogy, and Dawn has dethroned Hellraiser as my all-time favorite horror movie. It looks a little different in style, but as long as Foree makes a cameo, I'm sure I'll give out a whoop of excitement in the theater (something I never do, for fear of embarrasment).
There is no need to worry about the new breed seeing this and thinking the original is now campy cheese. Just sit them down in front of "Day of the Dead" and at its finale ask if they have any more questions.
Wow. Let me wax didactic a little.

On presumptions formed from the trailer: Go with it. If you feel it's trying to be The A-Team With Zombies, or if it feels like a 28 Days Later: The Sequel, then go in there expecting that. Or better yet... clear your mind and expect nothing.

On re-using the Dawn of the Dead title: just be thankful it's not called Dawn of the Dead 2, or even worse: Dawn of the Dead: Here We Go Again!.

On there being more people in the mall: Great! More people to tear asunder! Hop to it!

On "Olympic Zombies": Again, great! I've seen a ton of films with dull-toothed, dull-witted zombie slouches who have to play "pig-pile" to kill someone. At least running zombies are something I haven't seen a hundred times.

On the remake destroying the sequel: Bullshit. The only thing they could possibly destroy is the film they're making. Romero's Dawn will be around forever, having enetered into the "Classic Horror Lexicon." The odds of the remake being around forever are way short.

It'll be a fun time. Smiles, everyone, smiles! Another zombie movie is on the way! Life is good!
Saw it in front of Chainsaw yesterday. Ah, I now dare to have a speck of hope for this one.
My print of TCM didn't have the trailer attached ... it only had the butterfly effect, the return of the king & Matrix.

I have never seen the original ... I did grow up on horror movies but my parents didn't really do the zombie thing. Judging from the teaser ... it looks decent. It doesn't do much for me but we'll see.

And is it me or are remakes now getting optimistic feelings?

- Mike.

If you had a constant release of bad and bland horrormovies you wouldn't hear me say: "Atleast they are making horrorfilms!"

I don't like the presence of Ving Rhames and Mekhi Phifer. And i have this huge "28 Days Later" deja vu. Nice "it's a wonderful world" song that does give the teaser an edge. But the final verdict will come when i see the end product.
Nice link to the old Dawn of the Dead game, though Zombies!!! pretty much covers the same ground in a fast playing beer & pretzels manner.

(Especially with the 2 expansions. Mall Walkers and Zombie Corps(e).)

As to the trailer. Doesn't look bad at all, but doesn't cause any feelings of OMG WTF KEWL!!! either..

I love the original Dawn, its one of my favorite horror films. (I just saw Day this last week. Damned good movie. Bub OWNS.) It will be hard to top, and I doubt the remake will do it, though it looks to be a nice bit of zombie mayhem up on the big screen..

Any particular reason?

I feel that Mekhi looked fine in the trailer and I can definitely see Ving (if given a strong enough role) owning in this film.

Wow, them zombies sure move fast. Great trailer -- though I didn't like one spoiler-filled scene with Mekhi and the pregnant lady. Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to this flick.

Hey everyone......
The "Infected" in 28 Days Later weren't zombies!!!
They were just people who came down with "RAGE"... which from it's namesake, afflicts it's victims with....<RAGE>....!
I mean they ran after the protagonists and stuff... that's cool!
But... DOTD-2k4 having the Matrix/Jumping zombies!?!? Zombies that run about as fast as a "living" human!?!?
Uhh!!!!!!!
ROTLD did it... sure!
But ROTLD was lighter fare (if you can call it that! LOL) compared to DOTD!
One of the main scares of DOTD were.. at least to me.. the fact that.. If it(zombie plague) were to happen, that would most certainly be a feasible scenario!
The JUMPING zombies from DOTD-2k4 which I have renamed the "Yuen Woo-Pings" (LMAO) will definitely take away from DOTD-2k4.. but then again...The way this movie's turning out, the only thing this movie will have in common with the orginal DOTD is probably the "MALL" and it's title!!!
Nuttin' else!!

I think Phifer is an awful actor and Rhames a mediocre one. I also don't like his 'appearance', it just doesn't feel like a movie he should be in, or a character he should play. It doesn't ring true.

I just watched the trailer. I loved how its all calm at the beginning with that eerie song playing...then...MAYHEM! I'm a big fan of Romero's dead trilogy and even though he wasn't involved in this remake, I am definitely gonna go see it.
What kind of credit does George Romero get for the remake? I mean he wrote the script for the original so my guess is they would have to aknowledge that in some way. However on the ever trusty IMDB he is not credited in any way.
I like that the trailer isn't going for "dark" like 28 Days.

I'm really in the mood for some well-lit horror...
Okay. I've been thinking about this, and I've even watched the trailer again, specifically looking for running/ jumping zombies. I saw one jumping scene in the parking garage.

Now... don't think me a fool, but do any of you complaining about this know for a fact that was a zombie?

I've got a cool-ass scenario I've concocted where it's not. Does anyone know for sure?
Can someone tell me the name and the artist who did that creepy "It's a wonderful life" song?
What's interesting about the new trailer is that, unlike the original "Dawn...", this remake seems to begin with the idea that the dead have not arisen yet until the next morning when the mall workers turn on the TV and see the horror thats happening around the world.

If I remember correctly, the original "Dawn..." took place months after the dead started walking, right?

Also, didn't the original "Dawn..." have a fast zombie in it? Its been a long time since I last saw it, but I seem to remember one of the S.W.A.T. guys getting attacked by zombie children who jumped on them early in the film. Or maybe I'm just nuts.

I'm probably wrong, but to me it sounds a lot like Julee Cruise. I think you can hear her songs in a couple of David Lynch films too as well as the TV show, Twin Peaks.
As usual, I come in late on proceedings.

I dunno, man. It just reminded me of the TCM trailer (which I disliked)... just overly glossy, like a music video I guess. The change in tone was cool, but it just looked a bit generic, action wise. I couldn't tell whether this was a zombie flick or the latest Vin Diesel brainbuster.

I guess the best thing in the trailer for me was seeing Tom Savini's name...

Sheriff Tom Savini. Heh.

The track's by Sparklehorse. And it's wicked cool.

I just watched the trailer frame by frame, and these are a few things I've discovered:

Jumping zombie? Yhe zombie in the parking deck did not jump out of mowhere. He (and it definitely was a zombie) was standing on something, next to a pillar, holding onto the pipes running along the ceiling. It then jumps at the guy. It didn't pull a house of the dead move at all and just appear outta the sky.

The scenes of carnage on the news really look good, lot's of disaster type footage with crawls like "The President will make announcement at 8:00" and ...tragedy of unprecidented scale in every ..." and what appears to be a quick clip of an exodus of people through a traffic packed street.

There's a "person" in sillouette jumping towards the camera from a high perch. It's intercut between that and Sarah Polley pulling the trigger of a shotgun, and a big explosion.
The jumping thingey could be anyone, not necessarily a zombie. It actually looks like the person is jumping from one of the rescue mall vehicles.
Sarah Polley is in the mall when she shoots the gun, so it's a different part, I assume.
The explosion looks like it is in an underground area, maybe the parking deck. There's a chin link fence and a zombie beyond it, who is engulfed in flames.

You see news footage of New Delhi India burning.

Tom Savini is a Tom Savini named sheriff. Cool.

The zombies... wow, they look nice and disturbing. They have all kinds of fucked up faces, and they move fast. They can be killed, because in many scenes, as they are running some drop and stay down.

There's a clip of zombies reaching towards the camera, and it appears that they are reaching into the mall vehicle you see flipping over.

One of the news footage scenes shows what appears to be a scene from the movie of zombies crawling and reaching all around the flipped over rescue vehicle. If true, it's strange because it's an actual scene in the movie passed off as a news clip that the characters are watching, but this could just be done for effect for the trailer.

And there's that big spoiler that the teaser is not even trying to hide, which I will not even say here.

_______________________________________________

So this trailer looks pretty good, but does leave the impression of jumping zombies. They do not fly through the air, but are agile, relentless creatures. They just keep on coming, non stop. And they look really really mangled.

I must have watched the trailer about 15 times in two days. I can't wait for this movie to come out. It really looks good.

.In the parking garage, where our heros swing their flashlights around, you see a split second shot of a hand being pulled back from the front of the pillar. It occurs as the camera pans toward the left.

From James Gunn's mouth:

From the website of James Gunn:

Also - The new DAWN OF THE DEAD teaser trailer is now up. I like it. And it's got a Sparklehorse song on it, which is awesome. Yes, the zombies move fast -- sometimes. The zombies move fast or slow depending on their state of decomposition. They don't feel pain, so there's nothing stopping them.

Great. So they're tactical zombies. Wonderful. Maybe there will be a Fu-Manchu zombie, revealing that it's all just a part of his sinister plot to take over the world and get that damn Nayland Smith.

What is going on here? Did I see the same trailer?

And did Rotten say this was "impressive" today?

Sheesh... I hope you guys aren't getting all soft on me just because the TCM remake turned out half-way decent.

I thought this trailer looked like crap, for a few reasons. I'm sorry but jumping zombies (no matter what their state of decomposition is James) are not okay in my book. Must I remind you of House of the Dead? I didn't think so.

Also, anytime anyone puts the word "action" before the word "Horror" I have a huge problem with that. That is what the studio is officially referring to this movie as, and the word brings up crappy memories of shit like The Mummy remake. blegh.

And I'm not even a big fan of the original! I can't believe that this crappy trailer didn't have you die-hard Romero fans frothing at the mouth with anger.
