Really unconventional, romantic, intense Robert Aldrich western that focuses less on shootouts and fistfights, and more on the characters and their pasts coming back to haunt them.
Both Rock Hudson and Kirk Douglas are great, but I think Dorothy Malone is the heart of the film as the widowed Belle. She and Douglas have some fantastic scenes together, including an incredibly powerful one right before the films climax.
Enjoyed this quite a bit, especially when it goes into some really unexpected places toward the end of the film.
