World's Largest Beaver Dam FOUND!

This is too cool!!
It kind of blows my mind to think that the dam could have been under construction since the 1970s. They are remarkable little animals, building something that's lasted 40 years and housed multiple generations. This dam is visible from space

There used to be beavers behind my house, and one time I ever stole one of their half eaten logs, carrying it over a half a mile back to my house...Then came the bull dozers. The land they were living on was owned by an air port, and they chose to exnend the runway. The beavers were destroyed, and the giant pond they'd built ruined. It happened when I was in 7th grade adn it was very difficult for me to take. I went to the pond one day after they drained it, and it was full of HUGE, giant fish, ETC, all rotting and dead. I saw a enormous turtle shell, stuck in the mud, when I touched it, the snapping turtle sank down into the mud, still alive and trying to find respite from the sun

Fuck those airport people

Anyway, I'd like to see them take a crack at taking down this dam. I bet that they'd be faced with a 2012 style tsunami if they dared remove a single branch.

I can only apologize unreservedly for the miscommunication. I understand the daily, if not hourly, pain of not having Angry Beavers to watch at one's whim and I regret my part in the emotional rollercoaster you must have experienced this morning.

Also, spoot.

Beavercity One?

I thought the most sought-after beavers were from the environs of Croatia's largest coastal city, Split...I've certainly heard about them the world over.

Maybe beavers are like ants, and develop a hive mind when there's too many of them....maybe they're planning to flood the world.

It makes me sort of sad to see that giant dam. Why? Because beavers were hunted to the brink of extinction and I bet if you traveled back to the 16th century Canada AND America would have been filled with giant dams like that. Maybe ones hundreds of years old

I do know what I am talking about. Beavers were nearly hunted to extinction for their pelts. That's like saying "Shut up, Kate. There are alot of buffalo on a farm near where I live therefore their population was not reduced to 3000 head by the end of the 19th century"

PS I think it's cool canada has so many beavers. I was not insulting you guys in any way! Tragically I don;'t think they'd find a safe haven like that in the US

I reread what I wrote and no, no where did I imply that. I stated that had their population not been hunted, and thus not needed time to recover, there would be more mega dams today.

PS Plus, there are NOT alot of beavers in America. They're a protected species for just that reason

Troy.....

Nowhere did I ever state or imply that there are not alot of beavers in Canada

I said that there would be more of these news worthy super huge visible from space dams had we not over hunted beavers in the first place

I also correctly stated that in the US they are so scarce as to be a protected species

Please reread what I have written. I have no clue where you're getting this "There are few beavers in Canada" stuff from. Don't just tell me it's there. Quote it back to me or please admit that you made an error.

I live in Georgia and we have beavers all over the damn place. Near extinction my ass. There are at least a dozen in my neighborhood alone.

I haven't experienced a shortage of beaver in, well... ever.

C'mon...no one's heard of the infamous 'Split-beaver'?
(apologies)
I have Graham. I haven't seen one in so long, I'd almost forgotten about them. I'm gonna go look up some umm....documentaries on the Split Beaver to refresh my memory.

Anyway, keep thinking you know everything.
Really, can you ever have too much beaver? I for one vote 'no'.

Awesomely enough, there are some beaver that crawl up on the lawn near the traffic light by the grocery store by my house. I think they may have been refugees from the dam that got destroyed (that I mentioned in my first post). I've only seen them there like 4 times total, but I always look every time I go by just in case

Plus, one time I was on a forested path walking by myself when all of a sudden I heard this weird sound. I looked around and the path dropped off steeply to one side with a stream running along. I could spot a leathery mitt and a bit tale, and it turns out that a beaver had carved out a little sort of burrow in the mud and was eating trees and stuff. I looked at his hand and tail but didn't want to freak him out so I left
