To be honest, the Chewer community on Facebook is better than that of the message boards, even though all those folks are MB regulars. Probably because you are forced to see each other as human beings rather than the jerk with the dog avatar who keeps talking about Greg Proops. I am kind of shocked that I said social networks are better than message boards, but fighting anonymous sniping is an unwinnable war.

Well, I don't know, it doesn't necessarily have to be paid antivirus/malware software. I mean, if you use a Microsoft computer, Microsoft Security Essentials (at least if you use 7; otherwise, Windows Defender) works well-enough for a free service. Also, places like CNET's download subsite offers up free software to download, and really, you should use more than one program to combat against viruses and all that malware out there.

I've been fortunate in that I've never had problems with the ads here; however, at other places... but the software always got caught before it installed on my computers, thankfully.

I appreciate the movement towards a harder stance against troll behavior. I have a strong loathing of trolls and trying to limit that kind of garbage here is a great idea, I say.

Anyway, I am happy to post here, even though much of the contribution is in the infamous B-Movie Action thread. The people who like to whine and piss and moan about this place... they won't realize what they had until this place is gone, if it ever comes to that point. But I hope it doesn't, as this is the board I post at the most often (by far) and people in general need to grow up and not cause problems here with their immaturity.

Hey, fair enough. I figured creating a separate thread for that would be worse than just posting it in this, but I have no problem with that policy.

I was not trying to be snarky. I just thought that Devin's thanks and following admonition were not really meant to invite discussion or follow up. So I wanted to just say "Ok, got the message, thanks Dev".

EDIT: I also just wanted to add that I love CHUD and have been reading it for years. I have a deep appreciation for the sense of community I've found here and so, perhaps my original message should have read "No, CHUD, thank you"

Even though Greg Clark summed it up, I just want to say that the creative community here is second to none. Like a lot of the other Chud Young Turks (Stormin's name, not mine, and I think there are only a few of us left), I grew up on the boards, and I've said a lot of boneheaded shit. To put it lightly. And I know I wasn't always constructive when I disagreed with the way things were run. But I'm a better writer because of this place. I'm both a more open and more discerning film-goer because of this place. I've gotten too many reccomendations in movies, books, and music to count. And the creative community here is second to none. To all my dawgs in the Budding Filmmakers thread, you forever have my sword. (No, Jake, not that one, that's gross.)

I just want to say thanks to you and Nick for creating and building CHUD to the best movie website around. I’ve discovered tons of films which I may not have seen otherwise. I can’t believe it’s been 8 years since I first discovered CHUD. Holy shit time goes quickly.

These boards have been an online home for me for almost 10 years now.

I think I will always visit the Chud forums at least once a day as long as they exist. I rarely participate actively nowadays, but I check out Focused, Main and the TV section daily.
