There are a couple of simple new rules here. We're still very lax, but we ask that you follow these small guidelines:
- No trolling. This means no flaming; you don't have to like everybody here or agree with what they say but your responses to what they say should be TO WHAT THEY SAY. This means you don't follow disliked posters around the board and mercilessly pummel them. Use the ignore feature.
- Don't post news on the board. Send news to the staff by using the Submit Scoop link on the front page. Give us a few hours to grab it, especially in the middle of the night. News posted on the board will be deleted.
- Don't make junk/spam posts. Your posts should have content and should be part of the conversation. Repetitive posting of unfunny catchphrases or memes or images are junk posts. These posts will be deleted.
- Don't post NSFW images anywhere except the Sex Forum. Only post them in threads marked NSFW.
- Don't be a dick. This is a freely offered service. It's a private business. Before interacting with the mods or the writers please ask yourself 'Would I say this to them in real life? And would I say it this way?'
- Piracy advocacy is an automatic ban.
- Making a "Goodbye Forever" thread will get you banned. I'm just trying to help you out. If you want to leave these boards, we can make it so that you leave the boards.
- Don't use unfunny image memes as replies. Not only are these lame and not funny, they have nothing to add to a conversation. Fail pictures, facepalm pictures, any of these mean an instant TimeOut.
- Read the article and the thread before commenting. This is a discussion board, and as such you should be discussing things, not pronouncing them. Make sure no one else has already said the exact same thing you're about to say. And double make sure that the article on which you're commenting doesn't say the exact same thing you're about to say. This is not a bannable offense, unless you really, really push it.
- If you're banned don't come back. You will be rebanned without warning. There are no second chances.
We will be instituting 'timeouts' for people who can't follow these rules. They'll mostly be one day. Repeated rule breaking will result in a permanent ban.
There may be small additions to these rules in the future.
Please feel free to offer your comments/thoughts/suggestions below. We may also be opening a Suggestions/Complaints forum or thread.
