Colossus: The Forbin Project.

I just watched this on Saturday morning on AMC and couldn't help but think of it as a "Prequel to the Matrix".

Without ruining the movie for anyone, it's about a supercomputer who wants to control human life. It also wants to spread out all over the world.

Has anyone seen this film? It was made in 1969 and is a great movie. I can't believe that it isn't on DVD yet.

Anyone who would like to discuss the film with me please reply. Thanks.

Oh man, I love this movie. I think it's really a forgotten classic.

The supercomputer is a great character: An insane, power-drunk control freak and yet completely and brutally logical at the same time. But what makes this a great film is that the damn thing is also faultlessly benevolent, just according to its own purely rational understanding of what mankind most needs.

And the ending. Oh the ending. It's perfect. I've always been shocked that someone was allowed to run with an ending that dark way back when this was released.

Demon Seed (1977), if you haven't seen it, is a great companion piece to this film.

I saw this last year and was really suprised by a lot of this movies content. Some real intense stuff for the times. I watched it again yesterday on AMC. Definitly a classic

This is a great movie and much better than "The Matrix" IMHO. I wish it was out on DVD.

I watched this last night too. I really liked it a lot. I really loved the bit where he was telling the computer about sex, and the difference between requiring and wanting.

Glad to see that you guys liked the movie. The super computer sure didn't mess around which I liked. That movie should have a sequel to it, to show how much of humanity would be inslaved. Or maybe the humans can think of a way to stop the computer.

It did not need a sequel the computer won, and the most people will be happy, or at less have a better life. the only people that will really be pissed are the people in power, the people that built it.

The movie is great, and should be out on DVD, but read the books.

There's 3 out there, and the movie only touches on a little bit from the books.

Very good reads, disturbing as all hell.
